A week to go, and I am very much looking forward to this

I have arranged a mix of revenue and award seats with a slightly convoluted routing to get to Tokyo (but not as convoluted as some).

I can now [re-]confirm my attendance at this do, and have signed up to the following events and paid deposits, etc.

Thursay 28
  • SQ12 09:20 SIN - NRT 17:05 in Suites class
  • NEX into Tokyo (will probably drop my bag off at hotel)
  • Welcome Drinks
  • Staying at Hyatt Regency Tokyo for 3 nights

Friday 29
  • Fish Market Tour #1
  • Water Boat Tour
  • Welcome Dinner

Saturday 30
  • Bullet Train to Nagano (seats 'booked' with JR East)
  • Saturday Cruise and Dinner

Sunday 31
  • Cheery Blossom Walk #2
  • Shopping time
  • QF22 19:50 NRT - SYD 07:25 +1 on a YASA :eek

Looking forward to see you folks and meeting some new faces

If anyone is on the same flights, then please reach out to me. I am happy to meet up in lounges or guest as the rules allow.

Sunday Cherry Blossom tour seems to be omitted.

Also, you may wish to include the "unofficial" Imperial Palace Tours -

Thursday 1:30pm

and

Friday 10:00am

I made a booking for the Friday 10am tour which won't be used by me - are there any interested if this can this be transferred?.

Just found out I will be in Tokyo at the same time as this DO is happening. Usually I wind up missing these by days, if not weeks. I put my name on the waitlist for the event and registered for the welcome drinks on Thursday.

Is that all I need to do? That's the only event I think I can make.

Done. But is the cherry blossom tour on the Saturday a different one from the one you reference on the Sunday?

It will be a repeat of Saturday's walk. No guarantee there will be any blossom left.

There's blossom and there's blossom.

Four yers ago SWMBO and I were in Japan (both Tokyo and Kyoto) two weeks after the main Sakura and there was still plenty around.

Indeed! The image you posted is Yaezakura (which usually flowers later) and not Somei Yoshino which most Japanese consider to be proper 'sakura'.

No Problems, I'm always willing to be educated - hopefully the Somei Yoshino don't all fall off the trees by Sunday.
