11-11-11 Veterans's Day

Today my fellow Flyertalk family is November 11, 2011 Veteran's Day. It is a time that we honor the men and women of the United States Uniformed Servies. I challenge each and every one of you traveling today to reach out to anybody you see wearing the Uniform of an American service member and shake their hand....thank them for their service to the nation.

If you have a membership to one of the airline clubs, walk up to them and ask if they would mind being your guest of honor for the time before their flight.

If you see them sitting having dinner ask if you could buy their meal. Pop a $20 on the counter and say this one is on you.

If you are on a flight ask the head purser, how many active duty soliders are on board and offer to buy them that drink or snack item while they are in coach.

Think about it the average entry level servicemember makes about $1000 a month and is asked to do so much for so little.

The folks deployed away from home have such a load to burdon. in just two weeks many of us will be celebrating Thanksgiving with family...unfortunaltely for many of these troops they will be away from their loved ones celebrating in the middle of a desert, mountain pass or .

A simple 'Thanks for all you do" goes along ways for these men and women.

Regards,
Angust aka Jim Wood 20 yr veteran of first gulf war.

Thanks for posting this. These folks going to and from the middle east, have enough on their minds, if a free drink or snack helps, so much the better.
