That’s a lot of things to see. I’d need to take a vacation after doing all that.

Golden Toque May 15, 2011 8:23 am

No, not a vacation... Just a bottle of Pepto!

paranoiatx May 15, 2011 12:53 pm

Well you already know I'm planning on being there. Oh wait, I'm already here. :D

Looking forward to this! Is Starwood Lurker involved this time around? Would *LOVE* if the Shiny New W Austin was our host hotel. I'm sure William could negotiate a $99 room rate for us all!!!
please please please oh purty please!!!!!

The Official Do property is going to be either The Westin at The Domain or the Aloft at The Domain this time around. They are just better situated as just about everything after Thursday is located nearer to north Austin.

very much interested: belle3388 + 1

Count on me being there.

I sense a need to work from our Austin office that whole week so I can join the festivities starting Thursday morning.

Nice! I stayed at the Aloft I think the first week or so after it opened. Was probably the first person in my room!

The Domain is a great area with some darn good shopping. I approve of this DO! :D

Thats too bad... was hoping to be staying at the W, and be situated in an area where one can get into far too much trouble... oh well... perhaps a night before or after the DO can be arranged at the W... I hear nothing but good things about it!

Yes, and the rates show it. :) Right now, the night of April 19, 2012 at the W is going for US$509, so it might be a good redemption option for the first night of the Do, but getting a group rate for less than $400 is nearly impossible. Less than $99 would be an absolute miracle. ;)

Rates at the Westin are $269 and at the Aloft they are $129 for the same night. I haven't decided which hotel to ask for a group rate from yet, but am leaning toward the Westin at the moment.

Truthfully, though...after Thursday night...you would want to move north because the Domain is where the transportation is being boarded.

Yikes

$509... The Aloft it is! :D

I would also lean in the direction of the Westin, a hotel that I very much like. The problem with the Alofts for this sort of get-together is that the public spaces are somewhat utilitarian and limited while the Westin would easily be able to handle it.

Additionally, the rooms in the Alofts, while well thought out for the purpose of hosting a businessperson for a night, would be rather problematical for a couple staying an entire weekend.

I'm a maybe for this event. Will know as it gets closer. But heard so many great things about the last one I want to make this one. I have a trade show that ends on the Thursday, so I'll probably do two separate tickets. One for the biz trip & one for the Do. Will probably miss most of the Thurs day events, but should be able to make it for dinner.

I know that neither Pa Kettle nor Starwood Lurker want to hear this ;), but are there any Marriott properties near the weekend activities?

Cheers.
