youll have a blast! my first trip to ireland was over new years as well. biggest tip - on new years day when you wake up mid afternoon and are in need of something to help you overcome Guinness saturation, head up to cassidys. we wandered the streets looking for a pub or restaurant open during those "odd" afternoon hours when european food halls close. cassidys was open - thank god! so save yourself some walking and just head there. interesting tidbit - it's owned by bill clinton's cousin!

have tea or coffee at bewleys. it's the same idea as going to dean and delucas in nyc. nothing super special - just something to do to say ya did. go to the guinness factory mid / late - afternoon. that way by the time you finish the tour and head up to the bar for your free pint, it's sundown over dublin. it's purty. and be sure to have some guinness pie or guinness stew. even if you dont like the drink, it makes the meat sooooo tender and yummy. i hated guinness before thetrip, hated it while i was there, and craved it once i landed back in the us. now i dig it.

biggest piece of advice - strike up convo with every local you see! they're super nice and keen to chat. and i'm not just saying this b/c i'm marrying one and moving to ireland in a few months *grin*
