And the Devils Get Their Do, 2011 Edition
Last year, several FTers got together for dinner and drinks in Newark and proceeded to a Devils-Flyers game. I had the opportunity to get group pricing and shared that opportunity with many of my friends in Teh Penalty Box, as the FT contingent was a minority. In the spirit of full disclosure, this annual event supports my local Rotary, of which my mother and I are both members...I just put it on FT and turn it into a Do for my own personal enjoyment. :D
This year, the principle is the same but the geography reversed and the deal is slightly better. Who: New Jersey Devils at Philadelphia Flyers When: 22 January 2011, 1pm start time. Where: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, PA - the venue formerly known as Wachovia Center, First Union Center, etc. etc. Details: $55 per seat. Price includes admission and unlimited hot dogs, soda, chips/salsa, ice cream. Seating location is Section 218, split between Rows 9/10. |

:rolleyes::rolleyes:The Consolidated Information Post :rolleyes::rolleyes: FOOD INFO: Link to restaurant: http://www.continentalmidtown.com/ Dinner is from 6:00 to 8:30pm at Continental Midtown...(Continental, haha)...here is the menu. Served Family Style FIRST COURSE Edamame Continental Salad Cheesesteak Eggrolls Thai Chicken Skewers with Peanut Sauce SECOND COURSE Shrimp Pil Pil BBQ Chicken Quesadillas Sesame Spinach Hanger Steak with Maytag Blue Cheese and Red Wine Sauce with Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes Seared Tuna (served rare) with Mushroom Risotto DESSERT DESSERT TAPAS COFFEE, DECAF COFFEE & HOT TEA MENU I $40 PER PERSON ** BEVERAGES, TAX AND SERVICE CHARGE ADDITIONAL ** ** Menu items subject to change ** $40pp, with beverages, tax, service charges additional. Tax and service charges are an additional 20%/$8pp. Beverages are at menu prices. Please bring cash, and please do not short your fellow FlyerTalkers. Dinner update: the list of people attending the game is being assumed to be the list of people attending dinner. If anyone with game tickets does not want to attend dinner, or if anyone attending the game wants others to join the dinner, I need to know that no later than 3:00pm on January 18th, since I need to have the final headcount in to the restaurant 48 hours prior to the event. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ GAME PARKING: I once used a parking lot behind Lincoln Financial Field for a Flyer game that only charged $5. My car was there when I came back, so it did the job for me. Ladies beware: the transit from the lot to the WF Center involves a dirt path that is under the elevated I-95. Appropriate footwear strongly recommended. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TICKET PICKUP: For those who elected to pick up tickets in person, I will either drive or take PATCO (weather permitting) into the city. The majority of the hotel crowd seems to be around the Penn Square/City Hall area, so I'll camp out in the lobby of the Ritz-Carlton from about 11:15 or so, and we can run for our lives across Penn Square for the subway ride to the stadium. The subway leaves every ten minutes starting at :05 after the hour, and it's a 13-minute ride. Add on the walk at both ends, and it's probably a 40-minute door-to-door from the Ritz to the stadium. The reverse ride after the game can be one stop longer to Walnut-Locust, which puts us in perfect position for the Hyatt Bellevue and icurhere2's generously provided suite and/or the bar at The Palm. From there, it's walking to Continental Midtown for dinner. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ HOTELS: Meetup postgame will be at the Hyatt Bellevue, courtesy of icurhere2. Said hotel is about a half-mile walk from the restaurant. and in typical CM fashion count me in and Miss USA18DCA as the first willing victims of the Devils DO 2011 =)

As one of the FT attendees last year, I'm a very strong "maybe" at the moment. If I stay in the current job, my status is probable*. If I get the out-of-state promotion, it moves to doubtful*.
* Yes, NFL has indeed resumed. |
I'm a maybe as well; my participation depends on what my chauffeuring responsibilities may be that afternoon. I should be able to attend the post-game festivities regardless.
Keep in mind that the CoreStates/FU/Wachovia/WF Center will probably change its name again by the time the game happens  |
Thanks for organizing this CM. A Saturday is perfect for me so I'm in. Now trying to convince my Plus 1.
|
I am interested but w:rolleyes:rk might get in the way. Will know more by the RSVP deadline.

I am a maybe as well. :-:

Thanks for organising this.
Please put me down as a maybe |
My wife and I will be there.

sfogate, your East Coast fan club would love to see you again. :-: Much gratitude for everyone's thanks and interest. I had a great time at The Rock last year, and I was peeved that I couldn't make the dinner. This year, I get to turn the tables and go out. :D |
Bump. :-:

If I'm around I'd love to attend.
