Wooo HOOO! Congratulations Dr Cepheid :-:. Well done.
Yes I did notice you werent around as much . It will be nice to have a welcoming FTer back on the boards.
Hmmm I still havent got an idea for what I might do for my PhD . Perhaps I should run an experiment on the addictive nature of Flyertalk . You can tell me how your withdrawal from FT went .

Hi all,
Just popping in briefly to say thanks for the warm welcome-back! Your wishes are much appreciated. I've missed FT! Still keeping busy what with the conference next week and various other stuff, but hopefully I'll be back "for good" soon.
Solar physics, actually (specifically, solar flares), but close enough. The degree itself is just in "Physics," though.
I am, indeed, and already very generously upgraded! Many thanks go to t_h_s! My redeye flight to MIA (through ORD, no less) will be that much less horrific now.
It was awful; awful, I tells ya! Actually, while it did hurt in the beginning, I was quickly buried under a mountain of work so deep that I really had no time for remorse. I missed you guys, though, and am glad to be back.
Don't worry, Sam and I are already in the planning stages for EB Do V (which can double as a PhooD Doo as well). Look for it sometime in June.
Unfortunately, not my specialty, but I'll check down the hall, we may have some in stock.
Oh, worry not, my life is still far from normal! Other than this conference, I've got 2 or 3 papers to get published. I'll be at the same lab for another year, finishing out a grant (during which time I'll be feverishly writing those papers), but after that, who knows... I have to either find funding or find a job. We'll see how things turn out. On the personal side, life will also soon be quite interesting..........
Stay tuned.

I've deleted a few posts which were going off on the wrong track entirely.
cepheid is now Dr cepheid (congrats! :-: ), and is not another former FTer who is not welcome on FT anymore. So can we please restrict the comments to cepheid, since this thread is about him...
And a reminder that while Cbuzz threads can be chatty, their raison d'etre is not to chat.
Thanks for your help

Many, many, many congrats! I'm struggling through a PhD program right now. Finished with coursework but have at least 2 more years of exams/dissertation proposal/dissertation left. Seems like it will never get done. Stories like yours give the rest of us hope.
