Maybe, he was referring to charter flights like from condor.

Enter your Miles & More card number when you make your booking or simply present it at the check-in. The basic requirement to qualify for miles awards is that your flight should depart from an airport in Germany. The total mileage of the return flight will then be credited to you immediately in Germany. This means that you do not need to present your card on the return flight from abroad as well as on the way out.
http://www.miles-and-more.com/online...l=en&cid=18002

But there is nothing specified about 8K.

This means I will not book the charter...which means I cannot attend anything if I understand correctly. Are there any workarounds to this? For example, partnering with someone who can only attend the US portion? Thanks in advance for any help!
Anyone??

Because, as organizers and partners with the airlines in this event, we will be telling them.

Each program who participates in this event with us will have slightly different rules for how they are willing to do so. You're seeing this first hand. If you really need all the miles and are crediting to UA then you need to fly all three segments.

Made my semi-official I am in for the SMD2 last night with my deposit. If all goes well, this will be the second year in a row that I will celebrate my birthday by flying a SMD Charter flight!! My BF is thinking about coming to IAH at least for some family events, he is a little about the schedule for Thursday and Friday! I will see what I can do between now and then!!

For those that were at last years SMD1, the current issue of Airports (July/August) has our plane as the centerfold in all its nakid beauty!! Gotta love Aeroporn in the morning!!

Hi there, I was at the kick off at Tony P's. Lost sight of the group and just read the first page or two of this thread. Just a quick question. I see that you must be on the charter to take the tour. Could one just start in PHX and end in SEA? and just use the charter for that one leg? ( hopefully with a pro rata fee ) I am a LAX person, and would like to join just for the PHX and PAE parts is this possible. I could provide my own transport to PHX and back from SEA? If this does not work I understand, however due to other commitments this is the only time I have free. Thanks in advance and Safe Travels..

Yes, you can join for only those bits. No, the fee will not be pro-rated.

Friendly Suggestion

After reading the thread through last night I will say that this is NOT an official statement of the DO but meant as a thought of activities.

Since we may be seeing an increase in the number of US based FFs on this years StarMegaDO, I would think that some might like to see or use the self boarding gates at the CO E Terminal in Houston. Would make for an interesting send off gate and lessen gate personal needed.

Two other quick questions (all the best intentions, not meaning to push):

CO meetingworks? This will influence my choice of airlines to travel to/from the DO and provide more revenue to Continental.

Do we have the actual flight time for the return to IAH on Saturday the 6th? I'm guessing a 9AM departure means 3PM arrival, but it would be good to get confirmation on what connections onward from IAH would be possible on Saturday afternoon/evening.

Thanks as always for all the hard work!

Also - getting logistics on the charter departure would be helpful as well, since that could influence decision about hotel at IAH. I know it has been stated that all activities are based out of the Sheraton (but this is Flyertalk).

We will be asked to commit to the Sheraton with prepayment sometime this month. And we are now only three months away.

We have a meeting with the partners next Thursday. That's on the agenda. Meetingworks will be provided very soon.

The logistic is as follows: We will all meet at the Sheraton before going to the airport. I recommend the people staying there or take a cab to the Sheraton.

Hey all...a quick update to fill everyone in on the Thursday night event that will be part of this year's StarMegaDo event.

As of today we have officially launched the Frequent Traveler Awards. Conceived in the tradition of the Freddies Awards, the Frequent Traveler Awards will represent the peoples' voice with regard to the quality and value that airline and hotel loyalty programs bring to consumers. The first award ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Sheraton IAH North. Everyone attending SMD2010 is invited to participate in the event. There will be representatives from many of the airline and hotel programs as well as other industry executives. Plus an open bar. Hard to pass up, really.

For more information about the FTAwards check it out online, on FaceBook and on Twitter.

What's the dress code for the FTAs? (Sounds like a fun event.)

Also, my history is fuzzy. Why were the Freddies discontinued?

It seams that that someone has hacked the URL https://www2.starmegado.com/signup/ site. I just get Chinese like charters. Was going to sign up if space still available.
