Thank you to all DO hosts for all the things you DO.

I just want to give a shout of appreciation to everyone who has ever hosted, organized, helped out or attended a DO.

Thank you each and every one for giving your time and knowledge to provide experiences that no professional tour could possibly manage regardless of the cost. I also want to thank the participants for making these events so compatible, friendly and lots of fun.

Just returned from my gazillionith DO and, as always, I’m thinking the latest one was the very best of them all. I have never had a bad, or even mediocre, experience with FlyerTalkers, and am constantly amazed at how quickly and easily people step up and help out when irregular ops occasionally occur. And the talk, talk, talk – but that’s what we’re all about. Randy had that right.

That said, I won’t name names, places or dates, but if anyone wants to add to this thread with a particularly memorable moment of good times at a DO, it might be interesting reading. I'm thinking of things like taking a giant tour bus to dhammer's childhood home not once but twice! And knocking on the door! And going inside ....

Mods: Thank you for all you do also. (Most of you are DO hosts!) Move, lock, destroy as you see fit.

Thanks lili - I couldn't have said it better myself. At all the DOs I've attended the organizers have done a stellar job of putting together events, dinners, etc. Thanks to each and every one of you!

As for memorable times, there have been many, but the one that stands out would have to be the go-around at Toulouse during the Star Mega DO. Unforgettable!

agreeing with all the above posters ^. having planned a small dinner gathering with just 5-7 f/t'ers in honour ;) of an out of town visiting f/t'er, it's had to fathom the amount of work that others have put in for larger (and dare i say, "mega") do's so thank you all.

Just want to add my two cents that the organizers of the dozen or so Dos I've attended have done an outstanding job - how they handle the groups that descend on them, I have no idea. Whether it was in EZE, ZRH, DUB or my personal favorite - SEA;), they've all done an unbelievable job.^

I've gone places I wouldn't have gone, eaten in restaurants I wouldn't have known about (gas station bbq?!!!) and had wonderful experiences I wouldn't have otherwise had were it not for the generous people who sometimes work as much as a year pulling together these events. I'll give a shout out to our local organizers as well. It's great when someone sets a time and a place to draw us all together.

Seconded with gratitude.

I still recall our first Flyertalk Do, on the Queen Mary, all those many years ago. My daughter was a little tot at that Do and in a few months she will graduate high school.

And of course the most classic Do moment, for me and most everyone else who was there, was Jailer tackling a waitress who had a tray full of Martinis at Madisons. :D

From those two Do's I learned how much work and how much fun there is in being a Do host. So I also salute all the people who stepped up to take on this great role.

+1 ^.

I have been on more DO's than I have organised (and the ones I have helped organise have been quite little in comparison to some of big DO's). I must say I think I like being on the Do attendee side more :D :p.

So I would like to add a big thank you to all the organisers of Do's I attended as a guest.

Hear, hear! I tell "civilians" that a Do is a private party of however many days organized for us somewhere in the world. All we do is show up and enjoy their expertise and hospitality!

My gratitude as well. Many a great memory have been given due to the hard work of DO organizers. Cheers to them.

I have seen both sides of a DOs and mini-DOs. I thank each and every organizer for their hard work. From WWBTNFTMTP ELP DO to StarMegaDo, each has been amazing! ^ Organizers.

How well stated lili! ^

I've been to three and as I meet new FTer's I find I enjoy each one more than the previous one. I am looking forward to the next two and it would be more if there were not other things to take care of.

The organizers are great, giving freely of their time and resources. I would like to recognize the efforts of wharvey for the Secret Santa event each year. Thank you!

A little late to this party, but all I can say is that I'm glad you had as much fun (on your most recent [as of your post] do) joining us as we did putting it together! :)

I have to give a huge shoutout to missydarlin's exhaustive planning efforts at SEA DOOs--especially the most recent one, where the restaurant lost the reservation for all 60+ of us. She handled it with aplomb, and we all managed to get fed that night. :) Volunteering her house and yard for the annual barbecue isn't exactly convenient, either.

The fun of meeting people from all over the world makes every ounce of planning worth it, though!
