Thank you for the invitation Aerotec.

We are sure that this will be as interesting and Islay and Jura and that Franny, who missed that one, is thinking that you should definitely have a seat for her this time. I am also ready for this flyover. ^

We are also thinking that since the Udvar Hazy Air and Space Museum out at Dulles is supposed to be so much more impressive than the one on the Mall that we are going to do that on Monday. One would hope that at the distance you are coming from, you can find an extra day to explore around here.

GoingAway also suggested looking at a tour of UH since some folks are already planning to go there on Sunday - so I've talked to the Air and Space folks about a private tour on Sunday at Udvar-Hazy Museum and that's a go, just a matter of naming the time on Sunday we want and estimating the group size a few weeks before.

I'd love to also work into the schedule a guided tour for us for one of the downtown Smithsonians if we can figure out a good time slot for that. (Remember UH is quite a distance away from downtown DC.) My thought is to do something other than Air and Space for the downtown museum tour.

In case someone needs to get a hotel room on the cheap and also get points, I was able to get Marriott to honor a look no further claim for May7-9 against Hotels.com rate. So it only costs $74.25/night at the Courtyard Washington Northwest.

We in NJ think we're as big as Texas.

I am now a local, just over the Potomac in VA. I just have not updated my profile.

As someone from NY just over the NY/NJ border, I won't say anything else about NJ

Updated and fyi, there is an active monthly gathering in DC, look for a DC HH thread in community if you're interested .

Please list dedehans+ 1 as interested. WE would be yes/no/no

I too would like to visit the Hillwood but am probably too late. I have to tell you all that my great uncle was Mrs. Post's "consort" for 30 years and he told me much about Hillwood, Maralago and the camp in the Adirondacks. He always referred to her as "Mrs. Post", never by her first name.......

Just a reminder that we will have this on Sunday, if some of you need us to set the exact time soon (perhaps you are already looking at flight reservations?) let me know.

If you want to suggest your preference for the Smithsonian Museum to set a private group tour up at on Saturday, please go ahead. There are plenty of great choices, for example:
Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum
Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden
Smithsonian Freer Gallery
Smithsonian Sackler Gallery
Smithsonian National Museum of African Art
Smithsonian Natural History Museum
Smithsonian American History Museum
Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian

Go here for more info:
http://www.si.edu/Museums/

The time slot for this has also not yet been determined.
