I currently have around 15-16 personal cards, but only 1 Citi card. I probably put $10-$20 in monthly charges on that credit card and also paid $1-$2 in interest last year, because I didn't realize I paid less than the total balance one month. I also have a very modest Citi checking and savings account.

My credit score is also 800+. Of your active personal cards, how many are with Citi? Regardless, it's frustrating to be declined. I would consider calling reconsideration next week. Good Luck.

Yea it's funny I don't have that much unused credit as I lower limits on cards I'm done making the spend on the $2k...........for example at Chase I have 4 open cards but only 8k total credit.

I don't have any Citi cards open, last Citi cards were during the AA fiasco..............Amex and Barclay also don't have any crazy amounts of unused credit.

I read something about 6 months between new cards, my last card before the Amex approval later last night was just over 5 months ago.

Maybe I'll call Citi and see what they say. Thanks

Multiple Citi Premier cards simultaneously?

I already have a Citi Premier. It's been more than 24 months since I got the SUB. I see that there's an 80k SUB offer at the moment. I want to apply and take advantage of the current promotion. If I'm successful with my application, then I'll do a product change for my existing Citi Premier. Is this possible?

Wife just got rejected for too much available credit. Reconsideration line said, "Sorry, not sorry"

I'm going to lower the limit on a bunch of cards, cancel 1 or 2, then try to call reconsideration back. Anybody have any luck doing that?

I want to do the same. Were you successful in applying for additional citi premier?

Last applied for a Premier in Feb 2020. Lowered several Citi cards credit lines to $2K.

Applied for a Premier last week as it should be at least 29 months since the last app, and 2 months at least clear of 24 month SUB rule.
Am 1/24, got the 7-10 days to let you know message. Called in and verified my ID, was approved.
One day later the card number appeared in the app, online I saw the card with a separate TY number, called in to add the new TY account to the old one.
All are under the one old account now.
The bonus tracker appears in the app.

How long do I need to wait between inquiries?

Was auto-rejected for a Citi Premier on the basis of "too many recent inquiries" - apparently Citi was unhappy that I had an earlier same-day inquiry from Chase (new Ink card - approved). I guess the app-o-rama doesn't work anymore LOL.

I had no other inquiries this year, and I have longstanding relationship with Citi including an old Citi Mileup card and a 1-yr Citi AA biz card.

Has anyone else had this problem?

How long do I have to wait between CRA inquiries before applying for a new Citi consumer card?

I'm not who you were originally replying to, but I had an existing Premier card, applied for a second one with the 80k bonus, and was approved instantly. I now have two active Premier cards.

Tried to get the card while on vacation so I can use it when I return home but got rejected for high amount of unused credits and too many national revolving accounts. It doesn't sound like I'd ever get Citi card. Yet, upon returning home, saw a preapproved letter for this card in my mailbox and got approved applying with the invitation code.

Best Buy purchase

I’m finishing off the 80k SUB for this card by making a $1300 purchase at Best Buy for a tv. Any suggestions on the best way to earn maximum points on that purchase? I think going to a grocery store and buying several Best Buy gift cards for 3x points might be best? I also considered Rakuten, but they only have 1% right now for Best Buy. If I can/should double dip using other shopping portals let me know. Thanks for any help/suggestions.

I've had this card for a year, used it for the SUB to transfer to AA when they allowed it last fall. AF is coming up, but not sure if I need to keep this card - any good reason to hang on to this one? I don't really do anything with TY points. More of a UR and AA point person.

see if you can buy the TV elsewhere for the same price but with a better portal payout.

That's hard to answer without knowing what other cards you have and what travel needs you have.

There is no UR card with a similarly low AF that earn 3 points on the categories this card does.

TY points transfer to different airlines and hotel programs than UR points do, so some people value the variety. With airlines, if you can transfer to one airline in each alliance, that might be enough. But for hotels, there are pretty much no alliances, so if you need hotel points of a particular type (say, you're going to a national park, and the only points hotels nearby are Choice and/or Best Western and/or Wyndham, because those are the points hotels you're most likely to find in smaller towns), and you don't already have plenty of points in those programs, the more hotel programs you can transfer to the better. But obviously if you already have tons of points in all hotel programs you're likely to use, then transferring may not be that important.

Denial for "Too Many Inquiries?"

I was just denied for a Citi Premier card due to "too many inquiries" on my credit report. I have a credit score exceeding 800, and cards from many banks...but inquiries have been spaced out and it’s been well over 24 months since I opened or closed an account in this card family. I have a Double Cash card, and did recently accept a 1.99% APR offer for 6 months on this card.

Any idea what's going on? Was I denied because I accepted the APR offer? If so, how long do I have to wait? Thanks...

I recently applied for the Premier card and was instantly approved, but barely. Citi gave me the lowest amount of credit I have ever received on any card from anywhere - 3k only.

Either Citi is getting tight on credit granting, or they may be using some other criteria mentioned in earlier posts. My Fico is 830+ and I have had bank accounts with Citi for more than 20 years. I had applied for and approved for the AA card a few years ago, and Citi gave me a 22k credit limit on that card. (I closed that card three years ago. so that should not be an issue) So I am very surprised at the lower credit limit. I have no recent hard pulls.

I do have a lot of unused credit from the Chase UR ecosystem and from other issuers. That is the only reason I can think of.

Inquiries only matter on the credit service which Citi pulled. You have to look at that specific credit report and see how many other inquiries from any banks you have there (in the previous 6, in the previous 12, and in the last 24 months).
