This is a continuation of the original discussion HERE.

Book online at thankyou.com or by phone at 1-877-288-2484 7/24.

Starting September 1, 2019 the complimentary 4th night benefit can be used up to two times per calendar year. Bookings made prior to September 1, 2019, will not count toward your two-stay cap for 2019. Starting September 1, 2019 bookings for the 4th night benefit must be made exclusively by visiting thankyou.com or calling 1 800 THANKYOU. Citi Concierge will no longer handle new 4th night benefit bookings but will continue to support bookings made prior to September 1, 2019. To utilize your benefit through our online travel site, and/or have the option to use your ThankYou points, please visit thankyou.com, select travel in the top menu bar, select hotels, choose hotel designated as “Complimentary 4th Night Eligible”, book at least 4 nights, see savings at checkout.
Starting for reservations made on or after July 23, 2017, this benefit will give you the average nightly rate on stays of 4+ nights, and will NOT include taxes.

Reimbursement times vary but seem to have improved in 2017, now about 2 weeks is most common. See this thread
for details.

No. You can also change hotels for a night if it works for you.

Thanks. So, it doesn't matter if it is different hotel, it has to be 4 nights (4NF deal) + 1 night different hotel + 4 nights (4NF deal) ?

No, you can book back-to-back four night stays at different properties, or two four stays at the same property separated by at least one night elsewhere.

I assume by "elsewhere" you're referring to using another booking channel, and not necessarily staying at a different hotel. I've been credited two nights on a 9-night stay at the same hotel (staying in the same room) by booking the first four nights and last four nights through the Citi concierge, and booking the middle night through the hotel website, using a different credit card.

Can I do this with thankyou.com? Dec 1-5 (4 nights) at Hotel A, and Dec 5 to 9 (4 nights) at Hotel B.
Thanks for all the help

Yes you can do this on the website. It will 'grey out' the 4NF if you try to book the same property for the two 4 night stays. But other properties will be available.

The problem is that the portal is a small subset of available properties.

We booked an 8 night trip recently, 4 through the portal, 4 through the concierge, because I could not get the hotels/rooms/rates I wanted through TYP. I was ok with switching properties mid trip, but its actually switching towns too.

I think this benefit is going to be capped in the reboot. As it is, its basically better than a top tier hotel credit card. Can't see that lasting, especially with professional roadwarriors.

BECAUSE IT SAYS SO IN THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS!

It is explicitly stated that you cannot earn the 4th night free for consecutive stays at the same hotel.

In the post to which GarlicFlyer replied, ssg10 was asking about consecutive four night stays at different hotels.

Sorry I read it as a response to the back to back at the same hotel since there was no quote indicating which post he was responding to

Granted. In such circumstance I assume a reply refers to the immediately preceding post, and try to make sense of it on that basis. Not always right, of course .

Question

If I book four nights now and cancel the card between now and when I actually stay at the hotel, do I end up getting the fourth night free?

Could anyone help with this? Thanks!

If it is a prepaid reservation you may get away with it, if you're paying at the hotel then clearly no.
