Did you apply from the Sears web site? Also, if we apply from there, can we choose TYP as the reward?

https://m.sears.com/searscard is where I applied
Can no longer apply, and Citi stopped allowing conversions to the TYP card early last fall.

Went through July without any offers and was starting to worry but recently got the 20% back on utilities for August through October a couple days ago! Min spend $100, up to $75 in credits so max $375 spend. This one is easy to max if you can pre-pay your utility bills.

you can very much apply for the SYW version of the card, but you can no longer convert it to earn citi TYPs anymore.

Those who got in on the TYP version have probably the single best MS card there is imho. 20-25x is a stupid amount of bonus points on spend, especially when you consider that most sign up bonuses average about 10x on spend. All with no AF. I only wonder what sort of total TYP people have managed to squeeze out of this card over the years

Got one as well, first offer in a few months, not as good as the previous Gas, Grocery, Restaurants offers, but better than nothing.

The "shop your way" version has great offers as well. Pure statement credits mostly though a few have given SYW points. I think shop your way is still worth getting.

Is buying GC at Simon in-person safe? I've heard a few cases people were shutdown by Citi for buying GCs online from Simon with Citi DC.

DC added some terms & conditions warning about gc.

I'm not sure about Sears, but given that the card in TYP format can't be obtained anymore (or at least no one has reported success in a year or so) it seems kind of risky. There are enough other natural spending opps I would think for you to use up the Sears awesomeness.

I would note that problems with Citi Retail Card Services and Citicards can infect each other - a problem in one world leads to problems in the other.

Still no luck. However, they deactivated my current card and have ben issuing a new and improved chip card that is apparently being delivered by snail. What bank deactivates a current card before the enduser receives the replacement? You try to contact Citi support, they are clueless on anything. Missing out on some great offers too since I do not have a SYW card to use right now.

I got an offer today that gave some benefits if used the Sears card for appliances at Sears over the long weekend. Either a discount or a finance free time period.

Didn't seem to require activation but in any case I just deleted it.

I'd be reluctant to interact with Sears for anything that might involve an issue at any point.

It's been up for about a week, maybe two at the most. I think it's a pretty neat design - I'm sort of surprised they bothered though honestly since nobody new can get the card. Will be neat to get the new design eventually though.
