Credit appears on the billing statement for the month the fee/charge hit. It is not an instantaneous credit that you'll see in the account online, it only applies at close of statement.
The year your purchase counts against is based on the statement date, not date of purchase. Tickets purchased late in the year, especially in December, will almost certainly count against the benefit in the following calendar year. Do not wait until the end of the calendar year to use your credits!

Hi, for the Prestige card $250 travel benefit, does it work if I buy a $1000 air ticket?
Will Citi reimburse me with $250 then?
Thank you!

I already had funds in UA registry and the $250 gave me enough for my next flight. I seldom fly AA because of where I live, but still love the Prestige for its many other benefits.

that makes sense. although with the new T&C for the card's travel insurance benefits you're better off putting some of the ticket price on the card directly so you can enjoy trip delay benefits, etc. Previously you had to put the entire fare on the card

When purchasing airline tickets (specifically through AA.com in this case), how long should it take to see the credit of $250 to my account?

Turkish Airlines works for tickets. Although it post strangely on the statement (i.e., without the usual flight information), it is capture correctly as airline.

So no one has had any luck getting Jetblue tickets reimbursed? Has anyone done it by contacting Citi and doing it manually? I have to fly RT to Tampa in January from Hartford and Jetblue is my airline of choice as they and SW are the only nonstop choices.
