Which websites qualify for 3X points?

3 ThankYou Points for each $1 spent on purchases made at eligible retail (including department store websites, specialty store websites, warehouse store websites and boutique websites) and travel websites (including online travel agencies, and hotel and airline websites).

3 ThankYou Points for each $1 spent on products and services purchased directly from AT&T, including payment of monthly phone, cable or internet bills.

You'll earn an Anniversary Bonus of 10,000 ThankYou Points after you spend $10,000 in purchases in the prior cardmembership year.

Special note about eBay and PayPal - varies widely as to whether the bonus points are awarded. It seems to vary depending on merchant with no real discernible pattern.

Certain Non-Qualifying Purchases. You wont earn 3X Points for purchases of and payments for medical services, insurance, taxes and government services, real estate, real estate rentals, purchases or reloading of prepaid or gift cards, education, charities and utilities.
You wont earn 3X Points for purchases from independent wireless dealers, non-AT&T-owned stores, or AT&T resellers unless you are paying for an AT&T service, such as your phone, cable or internet.
(Effective 9/22/2019)

All payments coding as online are hit and miss. Sometimes it codes as online, sometimes it doesn't. YMMV.

I think you have to activate the *service* for 15 days for the $650 credit. T&C state:
"Make your phone purchase using your unique phone offer link, activate and maintain service with AT&T for 15 days. If you buy a new phone now it will count toward the $2,000 in qualifying purchases!"

I unlocked my phone and activated my service online by creating an at&t account. I see a billing cycle, my plan information, etc. So I'm assuming my service is activated. I haven't opened my phone or turned it on yet.

Does anyone have a confirmation yet of receiving the statement credit without needing to turn on the phone?

Did anyone try and successfully get two phone credits from two different people on the same phone line at different times (e.g. 3 months gap or so)?

I have AT&T phone line and Citi Access More card, so I am going to get the phone credit soon for myself. On the other hand, my mum uses T-mobile (grandfathered plan) and she wants to get a new phone without switching to AT&T. Can she apply this card later and get the phone credit again with my phone line?

Those aren't the true T&C, that's just the topline deal info on the card application site. The offer details that popup when you use the real link to buy the phone are slightly different:

"You must activate the phone with qualifying postpaid wireless service (including voice and data as applicable) and keep the phone, and remain active and in good standing, for 15 days"

Did the new account route for my wife's iPhone 6S Plus. The normal purchase method just would not work. We do have a FAN discount of 24% off our bill.

She received the phone, was able to transfer her telephone number to the new phone on existing account via telephone customer service. However, customer service was unable to close this inactivated new phone number. We ended up going to the store to make sure the new account wasn't activated and we would not be billed for unused service.

It was a bit of a hassle but she's happy with her new iPhone.

Now we just have to wait for the $650 credit to show up.

I follow the Citi link, choose upgrade existing line, get a prompt asking if i want to use my AT&T more offer now and I choose yes. At that point the "premier" portal drops all iPhone 6s models from the list of devices. If I say no to the AT&T more pop-up, it shows a different portal with iphone 6s devices listed, but clicking on them causes it to hang on loading device details. Very strange. I do have a company discount associated with my account so I'm assuming that's the wildcard here.

Weeks ago I went to same portal and again it wouldn't show the 6s. I assumed I had to wait till it was no longer pre-order but it looks like that wasn't the case for many others on this thread now that I've found and read through it all.

Even more annoying is if I proceed as a new customer I could go through checkout just fine. AT&T More Promo tracks through just fine and the 6s is available for purchase no issue. It's just when I veer into an existing account and upgrading an existing line that things get jacked up. I have used three separate browsers, cleared cache etc. No difference.

I called support for Citi, they said it was an AT&T problem as they provide the link. AT&T support said there was an issue with Citi's link. So that was an awesome waste of time.

I really want the 6s soon so I decided to just buy it going the new account route and will activate the phone on my existing account when I get it. Here's to hoping AT&T doesn't hard pull me. I'd say word of warning to anyone that has corporate discount/programs associated with their account. It seems to really jack things up.

Can anyone confirm that with existing service and swapping sim from current phone to new, you still qualify as 'activating service' and get the deal ?

Thanks

TL;DR; - no SSN, first credit card, first smartphone/iphone, first time itunes user

9.1 Applied CITI AT&T Access more card with ITIN (no SSN), very first credit card. Application went to pending verification.
9.7 Got an email to mail the copy of ITIN
9.8 Faxed the ITIN
9.9 Approved for $4200
9.23 Received the CC - heck with CITI - two weeks to dispatch the approved card?
9.23 Activated and ordered iphone 6s 16gb silver via the link on CITI website. I had to select the cheapest post paid plan at the time of ordering, i choose $45 dollar plan. I submitted the application with ITIN (yes the stupid chat CCR asked me to submit the app with ITIN - why stupid, read next)
9.24 ATT app went on pending id verification
9.24 Visited ATT corporate store with ITIN, passport & major credit card in th evening. Store contacted credit & activation department, they annoyed me about asking a passcode on my profile. I swore I did not set any password. In the process shared many passwords that I would have set up Frown - no luck.
9.25 Early morning calls with customer care rep, learnt passcode is system genereated for the first time and they rest the passcode for my profile (no it is not the end).
9.25 ATT coprorate store visit - one more round of id verification (they update comments on my account when i reference my BAN number). Call to credit analyst & activation department, result - could not credit check with ITIN which was submitted at the time of buying the phone. Advised by the corporate store to drop the application and re-apply with GENERIC SOCIAL (000-11-1111) instead of ITIN
I was reluctant to let this order go, i was not sure if i will get the reimbursement from CITI, so wanted to try my luck with other corporate store
9.25 evening - 20 mins drive, the specialist id'ed me, updated the profile with two forms of id (native passport & major credit card) but DECLINED to call credit & analyst department. I called customer care from the showroom and customer care can not call them and they had to chat with that department. VERY Strange - in store folks can call but customer care can not call !!!

After 45 mins of research by those two CCRs, got the same response - no credit check with ITIN and I had to use generic social and can be obtained only if i apply in store. Peak of frustration.

I suggested I have generic social and I have received it from the store, CCR was super kind and she said she will try to update the application from her end to see if she can replace ITIN with Generic Social. She was able to do that, another 30 mins hold and got the response still no go since I do not have US issued id card and worst part is that the CCR let the credit analyst go !

I asked the att specialist at the store to add a comment by verifying my original ITIN which is issued by IRS / treasury. She had to re-connect with new analyst and explain the history and very fortunately and after 30 mins of hold - got the sweet words - You are approved and you will receive the phone per your initial order confirmation. No further action required from my side !!!!

9.29 - received the phone
9.29 - Did not switch on the phone, using the IMEI code requested non at &t user unlock code. Two emails later, success
9.29 - Connected my iphone with itunes on the computer (i was afraid as it is basically switching on the phone - did not find much clarity on this step from other posts - I can confirm, no worries - can connect to itunes after getting two emails from AT&T, second email will say there will be a third email but there is no third email. At&T is just stupid).
9.29 - followed three steps, back up the phone, erase the phone, restore the phone.
9.29 - ITUNES displayed the message - YOUR PHONE is successfully UNLOCKED. I was literally flying.
9.29 - Created an account with Plenti. Wanted to create at&t profile from plenti profile. NO luck, can't create online profile without activating it.
9.29 - Marathon calls with AT&T CSRs started, they could not id the device and they kept me on hold that they are researching. After 30 mins, got frustrated and questioned exactly what they are doing, they said they could not id and we realized i have given them wrong ICCID from the phone box - it is purely my bad. After another 15 mins, still got the same answer. I offered them if they can id the authenticity of the phone based on at&t order number - surprisingly they said yes. i shared the order number, id'd and activated.

9.29 - Created online AT&T profile and could not link since Plenti systems were down on maintenance

9.29 - Called CITI and they said they see my charge and as long as i meet promotion conditions a) 2000 spend and b) keep the connection with AT&T for 15 days, i should get the $650 credit

9.30 - Linked Plenti with AT&T

9.30 - Turned down for at&t activation waive off, will call in few days.

10.2 - Noticing pending points for 5000 (new post paid wireless with at&), 650 points for AT&T purchase, 500 points for paperless billing settings.

11.2 - I will see if the plenti points are posted and then will cancel the AT&T service.

Can you explain why you do this step? Does this have to do with unlocking?

Not sure why you would ask this as its been pretty clear and I have seen nothing to the contrary...

Per the terms, you have to maintain 15 days of service. Nowhere is "extension of service" mentioned. The phone must be off contract, and thus, by definition, not have an extension of service.

To confirm, I can just pay a huge overpayment for my AT&T service bill to both satisfy the $2000 spending and get 3% cashback?
Yes, if you were overpaying your ATT account it would count. Not sure why would pay pay $2K though. Seems like a smarter move to overpay $1300 (assuming $650 phone cost + tax) and buy the phone for $700 (tax included).

Yes, if you are using an AT&T sim to unlock (which was the case since i chose a $45 plan and they shipped the phone with at&t sim in it) - you have to follow those steps and it is listed on the email they send across. Also the terms says it should be activated in at&t network for 15 days. I have read posts saying folks used non att sim and unlocked it. i want to be on the safer side so used att sim to unlock. hope it helps.

For people who have purchased a phone from AT&T website with the Citi AT&T Access More card, what is the merchant code/category of the AT&T website?

I hope this question is more specific.

Just a heads up for those trying to avoid a second hard pull for signing up for AT&T Services. I went to the AT&T store to set up the service without providing my SSN. They used a 'Generic SSN' which was some combination of 0s and 1s (there is some particular format they use for this, and the rep had a bit of trouble getting it right). Went through, and was authorized without requiring a deposit. The rep was surprised because he hadn't seen someone get a $0 deposit with know SSN.

Turns out it was because AT&T did a HP from Equifax matching on my address. Since I did not authorize the credit check, I disputed this with Equifax and will follow up with AT&T to get it removed. If anyone has done this, would appreciate some pointers.

I think I screwed up. I ordered the phone along with the minimum AT&T service. When I received the phone I blindly followed an earlier post that said to unlock phone before turning it on. I did that and jumped to tmobile with my new phone. If the phone was never turned on with AT&T, how can service be established for the 15 day period? Can I take the phone to my local AT&T store and reconnect for the 15 day period for the $650 credit?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Put back the AT&T simcard and activate the minimum service you obtained, maintain it for 15 days. hopefully it should work. report back for others in 15 days. I have not seen any confirmed data point on this.
