Which websites qualify for 3X points?

3 ThankYou Points for each $1 spent on purchases made at eligible retail (including department store websites, specialty store websites, warehouse store websites and boutique websites) and travel websites (including online travel agencies, and hotel and airline websites).

3 ThankYou Points for each $1 spent on products and services purchased directly from AT&T, including payment of monthly phone, cable or internet bills.

You'll earn an Anniversary Bonus of 10,000 ThankYou Points after you spend $10,000 in purchases in the prior cardmembership year.

Special note about eBay and PayPal - varies widely as to whether the bonus points are awarded. It seems to vary depending on merchant with no real discernible pattern.

Certain Non-Qualifying Purchases. You wont earn 3X Points for purchases of and payments for medical services, insurance, taxes and government services, real estate, real estate rentals, purchases or reloading of prepaid or gift cards, education, charities and utilities.
You wont earn 3X Points for purchases from independent wireless dealers, non-AT&T-owned stores, or AT&T resellers unless you are paying for an AT&T service, such as your phone, cable or internet.
(Effective 9/22/2019)

All payments coding as online are hit and miss. Sometimes it codes as online, sometimes it doesn't. YMMV.

Sounds like a winner. I'm gonna get the card soon to get ready for the next iPhone, and tell the others on my account to get one if they want one. $650 off an unlocked phone is nothing to sneeze at, especially coupled with my 25% AT&T discount

Should've been more clear - yes, 25% service discount via company. I pay about on par with cheaper service providers.

I see, yes I'm getting about 10% off w/ AT&T on a corporate discount, but am not sure if it applies to buying new phones.

Since you have to buy the phone through a special link that Citi provides, it seems very unlikely that you'd be able to combine it with a corporate discount. We won't know that (or much of anything else about this offer) for sure until people get the card and try though. My next Citi application will be in a few days and I'm trying to decide between this and the 50k Premier offer.

It doesn't - what I was referring to was the fact that I don't mind buying a phone through AT&T and keeping service with them. The only thing I'm giving up is initial purchase protection that I love to have from other credit cards (like my American Express Platinum - cracked my phone screen [even with a case] a month after getting it and they covered all the repair costs). However, Applecare for a highly mobile device is worth it and I'll probably just stick with that.

I'm still part of my family's plan (my parents pay for our immediate family and a few of our cousins)

So, after the 2k spend, is it a straightforward buying of a phone? No other strings attached? (new or change of contracts?)

Did you buy the phone in full or did the contract deals.

I'm curious if anyone has had experience filing claims with phone purchases bought from the discounted price because of a 2 year contract.

From Citibank:

"Extended Warranty

Add up to a year on your warranty of five years or less so you can feel more confident when you make purchases with your Citi card. You're covered for up to $10,000 per year. Complete program details including Who's Covered, What's Covered, What's Not Covered and coverage amounts will be provided upon cardmembership."

Ouch!!! That definitely makes the deal less sweet.

For those of us that are running slim on new card options though it's still good.

yeah 2 HPs are def NOT worth $650 - $95 AF (could be waived cause Citi retention is usually pretty good, but we wont know how this card rolls until lots of folks get it and report back their experience) - initial month service plan fees

so you're getting perhaps about ~$500 worth of actual benefit, thats not bad for 1 HP but kinda sucks for 2 hits esp when Citi has so many other good offers out right now. tho I guess if this offer sticks around/becomes standard and if we run out of things to apply for in the future, this could come handy.

putting a deposit down is an option, but how does that work for folks who immediately cancel after 15 days?

I know this is an AT&T branded card and it might make sense for them to do this, but I really wish they DiDNT have a req to get a post-paid plan, even off contract :/ just let us buy the damn phone unlocked AT&T & Citi :S heck if they had done that I might have kept AT&T service with like a side/emergency prepaid phone instead of cancelling.

to me makin folks jump thru 15 days of service charges/pain makes no sense since its kinda easy to cancel if one wishes. tho perhaps they're hoping the hassle of either signing up for new service (as opposed to just picking up a new phone like you buy a new ipad) or cancelling will be too much hassle for many folks, and they're counting double on folks not redeeming this bonus or keeping service long term. I guess in a way it's smart customer acquisition, marketing cost well spent - esp if they never have to "pay it."

Applied and approved yesterday. Now just waiting for the card.
Plan to purchase a Nexus 6, activate for 16 days (extra day just in case), get it SIM unlocked during that period, cancel, and then swap my VZW SIM into the phone.
If for some reason the Nexus 6 isn't on the list to purchase, I'll probably just buy an iPhone and then sell.

Please post what happens when you request ATT unlock.
