12/2/15: approved for a Platinum Select with $13k CL.
1/16/16: noticed that "World" was removed from the name on the web site. Reduced CL to $4k. Platinum Select did not appear on pre-approved offers page.
1/22/16: on the web site, noticed the message "We've mailed your new Citi card. After it arrives, activate it for use." I haven't received the card yet. Platinum Select also appears on pre-approved offers page. I applied for another Platinum Select card and I was auto approved with a $11k CL.

Since my Platinum Select card from December is now only $2k above the minimum of $2k, it seems to make sense that my auto approved CL for my newest card is $2k lower than last time. Also, it took no more than 6 days for the CL to be freed up in this case. I have previously had issues running up against the max CL for a couple Gold cards from last year before I reduced CL on some Hilton cards I had, and received auto approval on that December Platinum Select. It seems like there might be a maximum allotment of CL above the minimums for a set of cards.

I'll report back if I don't receive the letter confirming the bonus, but I don't expect any issues.

FWIW, my Gold cards had CL of $1500 and $1800 and both have been converted to WE. I couldn't lower CL on them and was told the minimum was $2k. Only way around that seems to be receiving a lower CL at initial approval.

- a week ago, the description for this card flipped from "Citi/AAdvantage Platinum Select World MasterCard-XXXX" to "Citi/AAdvantage Platinum Select-XXXX"
- about 3-4 days ago, I checked my pre-qualified card offers, and the Platinum Select MC once again appears there (it's there right now, calling to me)
- a day or two ago, in my account, that card had a new note saying "We've mailed your new Citi card. After it arrives, activate it for use."
- in my email just now, I received a promo from Citi referring to this same card (by last four numbers of the account), saying in part: "Dear me, We hope you’ve been enjoying your Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite MasterCard® and getting familiar with all of its benefits...(etc)."

Although I don't have the card in hand yet, it sure looks to me like the conversion is complete, at least from Citi's standpoint.

It has been 40 days since my last Citi card app (70 since the one before that).

Any reason I should wait any longer to hit that big green "Apply Now" button?
It's right there, and it really seems like it wants attention...

Update: applied this morning for the Plat W card. Got the "call us now for a quick decision" screen. Called in, was approved with a generous CL after a few minutes on hold and no issues/questions other than identifying myself.

I applied and the letter doesn't say anything about the bonus. (My miscalculation.) The card arrived and it's a regular Platinum World. Should I activate it and hope it gets converted, so I can try again when I'm actually eligible in three months ? Or is it better to call and cancel without activating?

My AAdvantage Platinum Select card page shows "New card benefits are here! Enjoy no foreign transaction fees on purchases and 2X miles on gas."

I knew about no foreign transaction fees, is 2X on gas a new thing?

Has anybody ever figured out exactly what they do during these calls? I haven't had a Citi card approved without one of these calls in several months. Never any questions, never any problems, just kind of annoying (especially when applying for someone else). The last one, for whatever reason, took almost 20 minutes. All I ever get is that they're "reviewing my accounts".

Clarification please

Let's say when and if my card converts.... And I have not yet met min spend.. Will the 50k apply still?

Also lets say after it converts to WE, and I apply again and get approved for the regular W card, and that one converts.. Will I now have 2 WE cards??

So confused

Even stranger, I didn't see that while logged in, but saw it when I logged out. When I clicked on "learn more", it was not even a card-specific window, so of course mentioned nothing about 2x miles on anything.

Sorry new to this citi AA thread

Just want to verify the process

Apply for card 1 meet min spend once card is converted from world to elite wait 65 days And repeat the process? After applying for the 2nd card wait for the bonus to be verified before meeting the min spend than repeat steps?

Thanks in advance.

The one yesterday took almost 15 minutes on hold, with at least 6 or 7 pops back in to thank me for my patience and let me know it would just be a few more minutes. No questions at all once I identified myself.

Only thing I gleaned from the few comments he made were these references:
- something about taking this to someone else for approval (eg "I think I can get him to OK this credit line") and apologies that his "system" was slow today.

I took all that to mean that he needed approval from someone with more authority, perhaps because the CL was fairly high ($25K). After one of the first times he returned, he said he was trying to get the CL up to $25K and asked if that would be enough. I told him it was plenty (more than enough).

Just speculation, but because I have, um, several other Citi cards open, most with CLs in the neighborhood of $4K-$5K, added up they do contribute to some exposure. Long ago they would always throw crazy high CLs at me - ($30K). It may be that based on my income that's what they shoot for on a new card by default, but then see that such a high CL would put me in an uncomfortable area for them. Maybe I need to close a couple of those cards with $5K CLs (but some of them are pretty new and I'd rather not whack my credit rating's "average age of card" parameter). I should probably just be more ruthless about pushing the CLs on open cards down to $2K rather than the $5K I have traditionally used.

The above is all just speculation - the agent might just be killing time playing candy crush or watching porn while I'm on hold.

I also saw this several days ago - once, briefly, at an odd time - and have been unable to get it to reappear since. I'm somewhat skeptical and I suspect it may have been a website glitch. They clearly have been doing a lot of work on the website (and continue to - they warn you about this on login).

There ARE some Citi cards that have the 2X gas benefit. But I don't think the Platinum cards do (would love to be proved wrong). I think the bit about 2X points on gas that a few of us have seen occasionally is a website glitch.

If I ever see it again I'll get a screenshot and try to note how I get it to appear.

If the 50 K promo was attached to your application and you meet the spend you will get the bonus .

Re second card converting yes you will have 2 WE cards . FYI I have 3 WE cards . Do yourself a favor and read the Wiki

Whenever the card converts you can look online and you should see that you are preapprpved for the World card again. As long as it has been at least 8 days since your first application you are good. Remember the 8/65 day rule which is well explained in the wiki.

Quick question relating to this, since there isn't a catch-all Citi thread: Are there any known internal CL limits/thresholds at Citi that trigger further review or a 4506-T, as there are at Amex? I'd like to get as much breathing room as possible on my Prestige, but I'm not sure how far or how quickly I should push things in terms of CLI requests. Thanks.

Thank you I appreciate the reply.
