Transition-Related Notes
• Members are starting to receive Priority Pass Select cards in the mail. These are sent by Collinson via USPS, separately from the rebranded Prestige cards.
• There was a decimal rounding error in the ThankYou point accounting on October statements. Remove a 0 from each of the totals reported - it should then match
• Members who signed up prior to 10/18 still only receive a $250 airline credit for the year; if you previously used the $200 incidental credit, you can get another $50 in airline purchases reimbursed through December.
• If you signed up before 10/18/14 you are eligible to receive the 15% discount and companion benefits for a year after your signup date. Call Citi at 877-288-2484 and ask to speak with a travel specialist, rather than letting them send the information to Spirit Incentives for an email quote. There are mixed reviews as to the efficacy of this service.

And as a small reminder for some of you, all the Citi branches in AA's home state of Texas are closing next quarter -- likely in March according to what I'm hearing.

Most have been sold to BB&T:

North Carolina-based BB&T Bank is continuing to expand its footprint in Texas with the acquisition of 41 more branches from Citibank.
For Citibank, the deal represents the end of its retail branch network in Texas,...
The deal is expected to close in the first quarter [of 2015].

The exact timing for the deal will depend on regulatory approvals and back-office mechanics. The Citi people on the ground here are saying that "we've been told it'll be next March." That's still some time off, so we'll have to see how the pacing actually goes. I'll be keeping my Citi account, but I haven't gotten the official letter yet about how that's going to work. Online somehow would be my guess.

If you don't meet the balance it is $30 a month, first six month free. Which is in line with other similar institution's premier checking accounts.

Weird. I tried a place here in San Diego and another place in Fresno and both didn't ask for citigold. They did say that to get the bonus points (15%) that I would have to open an account. I guess this is YMMV.

I recently downgraded from Citigold, but I will try a branch in Chicago tomorrow and see what happens. Last time I went in to register for the $100 digital promo they were very helpful, so we shall see.

I also thought about opening a citigold account and just paying the 30 bucks for a couple months. Now i'm wishing I did that, I didn't know about the 15% TY point bonus. I may open it now... i wonder if they can retro my offer.

I went to a Citi Bank in Sunnyvale and I was able to submit an in branch app. At first the banker mentioned that it was only for Citi Gold members only but I told him that a friend was able to app it and get the offer by leaving the Citi Gold # section blank. After that, the banker was still skeptical but allowed me to fill out the application.
Told me it would take about 2 weeks to get the card.

Yes. This is not like Amex Plat or Chase Ritz that you have to use it on incidental fees, this actually is for any airlines fees including airfare. So buying a gift card is not needed if you have at least 1 planned flight that cost more than 250.
I did indeed buy a gift card on December of 250 dollars and received the refund on my statement closing date.

Edit: Banker allowed me to fill out the app using my former Citigold account number. It's a paper app, so will take a while to process. We'll see how it goes.

Again this statement Citi has transferred more Flight Points to ThankYou than would be justified by my spending. Spent ~$6,000, but they transferred all of my Flight Points ~13,000. I do have more Flight Points in the pipeline for tickets purchased before the feature ended.
I have also used my $250 airline fee for 2015. They issued 250 bonus points to offset the effect of the credit on the rewards calculation.

Mine looks like this:
3x on airfare/hotels: 1,080
2x on dining: 0
1x on other: 2,066
Additional bonus: 218 (flight credit offset)
Total Earned: 3,364
Flight Points transferred to TY Member Account: 3,146
Which, of course, is the 3,364 - 218. But this is essentially giving me 6x/$ on airfare/hotels as long as I have a flight point balance. Plus the 1.6x on US/AA, makes it 9.6%. Juicy.
edit: my FP balance is now <1K, but I should have about another 10K coming from Christmas flights booked in September. Hopefully those show up next statement.
