Transition-Related Notes
• Members are starting to receive Priority Pass Select cards in the mail. These are sent by Collinson via USPS, separately from the rebranded Prestige cards.
• There was a decimal rounding error in the ThankYou point accounting on October statements. Remove a 0 from each of the totals reported - it should then match
• Members who signed up prior to 10/18 still only receive a $250 airline credit for the year; if you previously used the $200 incidental credit, you can get another $50 in airline purchases reimbursed through December.
• If you signed up before 10/18/14 you are eligible to receive the 15% discount and companion benefits for a year after your signup date. Call Citi at 877-288-2484 and ask to speak with a travel specialist, rather than letting them send the information to Spirit Incentives for an email quote. There are mixed reviews as to the efficacy of this service.

I was confused as to why Air France is listed as an airline partner when I do not see it on the ThankYou website as a transfer partner. If Air France was really a transfer partner I would be thrilled because the Flying Blue program has far more value to me than the other transfer partners.
the AF thing is odd...has anyone else seen this?

The charge for additional users is prorated, you probably are 6 moths into your membership year.

I think to simplify usage, strip should be on back and chip on front. And while it looks nice and says World Elite, every card is World Elite these days including $250 Barclay and Capital One accounts. The one surprise is no mention of metal/carbon fiber card, so it must be plastic not that I care but expected it.
They CALL it the front, but I don't really think it is. The chip is on the 'back' of the card. I really think the strip is on the 'back', and they just put the signature panel on the front, along with the numbers...its all semantics anyhow. Nonetheless, I agree it will confuse some cashiers.

A flexible AAA rate booked directly with a hotel can usually save you 10-15%, and a pre-paid rate booked directly with a hotel may save you more; and both would earn points and grant elite benefits.
I am using this benefit right now, albeit with the current rules (must be a mastercard rate). The reservation at an SPG property IS point qualifying, however its basically BAR, so in the end you don't save as much as you would hope, but you DO earn more points since the hotel believes you are paying for that final night.

I certainly hope that the magnetic stripe will be a bit more recognizable than it appears in the graphic... it'll start to get very annoying very quickly if we have to point out to every single cashier where the stripe is when handing the card over.

Granted, this may be less of an issue after October 2015, IF the EMV transition here in the US goes as planned, b/c presumably we'll be using the chip more after that date.

The hologram can also be incorporated into the magnetic stripe. I think we will need to see an actual card to know what they have done. The images in the booklet are probably made from mockups.

It appears the booklet was printed in June. It could simply be an editing error (i.e. Air France randomly chosen by a copywriter during an early draft), or there could be an agreement with Flying Blue which is not finalized or which collapsed. We can transfer to Garuda and redeem for travel on AF, but that doesn't seem to be what they meant.

The card is also upside down, compared to the chip placement on other cards. I am not saying it will not work, it will, but Citi has re-oriented the space.

I did mention "integrated into the Holomag stripe," but if the stripe is card-colored then it would not be a hologram. Citi launched the world's first and only MasterCard product with the logo on the back a decade ago, so a new hologram-free card wouldn't surprise me

Looking at new design, I can imagine myself having a fun/frustrating chat with every other cashier in US and with every cashier abroad.

I got the very expensive looking mailer today. It does still have the line in it about Air France.

How is it that Citi can pull a benefit mid cardmember year (Oct), when my cardmember year ends February. In my case, I opted to keep the card for the 3/14 - 2/15 period because I plan to fly to the UK in April/May 2015, and I will probably be booking in January or February. I cannot know, due to family/work availability, by October 18th, when I will be able to go in April/May 2015. If I had known they were pulling the benefit in October, I quite possibly wouldn't have renewed and paid the AF. The CSR I spoke to could not fathom this concept.

Is the authorized user anniversary the same as the primary card holder? If I add an authorized user now, will the AU have until 8/15 to use the companion fare or just the until the primary card hold anniversary date?

Apparently neither. Apparently, we only have until 10/18/14 to book, regardless of when our cardmember anniversary is. That feels like highway robbery to me, though. Why pay the annual fee for 2014 if you lose benefits halfway through? I paid in February and I'm furious. I can't imagine how mad I'd be if I paid in May or something.

It should be noted that anyone who has gotten the card after October 2013 will get a full year from their anniversary date. I.E. If I apply today, I have until August of next year. You must call Citi to use that and the 15% benefit after October 19, 2014 though as the website will go away.

I'm curious why the protection is only for new cardmembers. We all pay the fee every year. Is it something from the CARD act or something?
