Discontinuation of Citi Forward card?

Hey FT,

Citi seems to have discontinued new applications for the Citi Forward (non-college student) card. I already have this card, but I was going to urge my brother to get it, but he's not a student. Is the card really discontinued, and are there any remaining working application links? And, I suppose if you apply for it as "a student" without being actually enrolled anywhere, they have a way to check that? Or, not so much?

This is a huge loss to the TY program for anyone going who doesn't have this card already. Earning rates otherwise are complete garbage.

A few months ago, I was able to convert an old, almost unused Citi platinum card into a forward card and confirmed the bonus categories. I didn't get a sign up bonus, but I preserved the card's history and didn't get a credit pull. That may not be an option for your brother, but it might be an option for someone else.

If anyone has experience. Please report if this method still works or not.

I just called today and did the exact same. Converted a platinum dividend which I haven't used in years to the forward college card (just want it for the 5x dining). Didn't ask me about college status or anything. They said it takes 45 days to convert.. I have to finish up some other spends first so no big deal.

What's the difference between the old forward and the college card anyway?

Not sure if it's still the case, but you used to get points for having a high GPA.
other than that, maybe smaller limits for college students?

I tried the same this week and was denied. The only option I was given was some sort of thank you card. I'm going to wait to see if my options get better in a few months.

My old dividend card has a $7.5k limit which she said would transfer over - plenty for dining use. I should have made this change long ago

-No signup bonus
-No applications for non-students

Although, the 2nd one may very well not be strictly enforced. Only time will tell on that.

This link to the non-college version loads, but I haven't tried it to see if it works.

Odd.. that only shows 2pt/$ on dining. The link is dated Sept 2011 though.

The 2pt/$ offer was due to the atypically high (30K) signup bonus. Most people opted for a lower (10-15K) bonus, but the 5x.

2x may as well go on the CSP

If you click apply, you get an error.

Don't you get 5x after the promo period ends?

Is Citi Forward Dead?

Can't seem to find it on the Citi website and nerd wallet says card is no longer available. All I see is Citi Forward for college students.
