I was also denied for the same reason. I tried calling the reconsideration department twice but they said that they could not override the computer rejection. It seems like Citi's hard to convince.

I went through this thread but didn't see any other rejections. I applied for this card the same day as five others, it looks like three pulled from Experian. Last credit card app was over 90 days ago before this round. Anything I can do to get this approved? Thanks.
Usually the "too many inquiries" rejection is hard to reverse on appeal.

I was rejected for the thank you premier card four months ago for having too many inquiries. I haven't had any inquires since then until today. I applied for the premier card again today as part of a four-card churn and got accepted this time!

Looks like I will have to really watch where each bank is pulling their credit report from. Since I was denied I pulled the Experian credit report for free, it showed 2 pulls on 10/25 and Citibank pull was on 10/26. I applied for all on the same day so I am not sure why Citi pulled a day later, maybe a backlog of applications.

The report shows six pulls total and they start dropping off in 2013 so it looks like it might be tough for me for awhile. I have only been doing this for about 7 months, how do people keep getting these cards for years?

Got approved for three cards for my parents and I. Seems a real easy card to get compared to Chase cards. I don't know why people aren't jumping on this one?

Same position. My open credit limit has ballooned and my # of inquiries is 5 higher then it was 6 months ago. All the card companies see me as a risk now, even though I pay my bill in full every month. My creditkarma score is 668 and has some room to improve. I imagine by keeping an eye on how much open credit you are being given vs. your income as well as keeping # of inquiries down (and obviously being on time/trying to lengthen your average age of credit) will allow us to get more cards.

Basically I have accepted the fact I can't get any more cards for probably 6-7 months which is when I will have a hard credit inquiry dropping off as well. I have also made a new rule for me to follow. Basically no more than 2 hard credit inquiries a year until I am not being denied for great cards (e.g. SPG Amex, Citi TYP, etc)

I applied for this card on 10/22. Got the pending notice. I've been waiting to follow up as I have a lot on my plate at the moment. Got a pleasant surprise today when I was called with the offer of the card with a $2000 credit line or a shuffling of my CitiAA credit to get a larger TY credit line. I hadn't really heard of non-Chase credit shuffling, so this was very welcome news.

Tax Return Request?

Just curious if Citi requested Tax Returns from anyone else applying for this card? I suppose that having a lot of Citi cards could be the reason. I just found it strange that I've never had them request me to release my tax forms before. Granted, I have a lot of Citi Cards.

I am assuming the above comment relates to a business application, correct?

no

They are sending me a form which I can sign to allow them to request my prior year's tax return in order to verify income.

if you sign the form does it mean the IRS will give them your tax return?

I was approved at the completion of my online application. I was asked to call a number, and after a reduction in anothers cards credit limit, I was approved.

But to answer your bolded quote above... I wonder if they're following this thread to see how many offers I was approved for.

This is from over in the AA cards thread:

6. If you are denied for not being a "first time cardholders", you are out of luck with no chance of reconsideration. If you are denied for reasons other than "only for first time cardholders", you can contact Citi through mail or phone and ask them to reconsider or negotiate your approval. If lower level CSRs say they can't help you, contact the following:

CitiBank Executive Review Department
P.O. Box 6000
Sioux Falls, SD 57117
If you really want the card, it's worth your time to send a postal letter. Tell your story in a reasonable way that reduces your risk to them. (Maybe you're trying out many cards to see which works best for you? And/or you got sick of airline redemptions and want other options? And/or...?)

As long as the review is completed within 30 days they generally won't need to pull another credit report.

I was thinking about applying for this card, but I am hoping to apply again for the 2 Citi AAdvantage card in Feb-March when I will be about 18 months from applying for the 2 AAdvantage cards. What is the current policy on how many cards one can have with Citi and within what time frame for applications? I don't want this app to mess up my planned AAdvantage card apps in a couple months.

I currently only have a Citi AA Biz card from couple months ago and an old Citi Dividend card with no annual fee.
