Prestige cardholders: the current value of points is $0.016 if redeemed for flights on American Airlines, or $0.0133 on other airlines.

The redemption value on all airlines changes to $0.0125, on July 23, 2017. This is the same value as Citi Premier and Chase Sapphire Preferred. Discussion is in this thread:

Citi Prestige benefit and reward changes

If the TYP portal is not showing the lowest fares you've identified on Google, an OTA, or the airline directly -- call Citi TYP and then ask to get Connexions on the line. Doesn't cost extra to do book that way....but will take longer and manual bookings will NOT show up in your TYP MyTrips tab.

TYP portal pricing should be verified for every flight, it cannot be trusted to show the lowest fare. Also scroll over all the way, since some carriers are not on the main screen, and may have lower fares/points than their preferred carriers.

I just tried booking a flight on www.thankyou.com, if I used all thankyou points it comes to 43,500 and if I use all cash it is $577. I have 19,500 typ with these the price is 19,500 typ + $318 cash. I assume the all cash price includes a booking fee. The typ only option seems like a big discount over cash.

The all cash price doesn't have a booking fee because it should be the same price as if you purchased it on the airline website, at least that's been my experience on AA tickets.

You see a big discount with points because you get a 25% break if you pay all with points, and it's graded as you pay more with cash and less with points, until you get to all cash.

Anyone having trouble booking TYP flights with points?

Everytime I try to price something out, it only gives me an option to pay with cash, not points, nor points and miles.

What's going on?

I don't see this problem. I'm able to price it out with points and pay with points. Perhaps you don't have enough points for the ticket?

Thanks for confirming FlyMeToThe.

I called TYPand apparently my TYP account got "unlinked" from my Travel Rewards Account and so they linked it back together.

No booking fee. The math is this:

19,500 pts at 1.33c/pt is $259. $259 + $318 = $577

Is this official now - the 33% extra value when redeeming flights?

Got this email on one Premier card today. The other Premier card that has over 200K TYPs does not receive the same email.

This is the first time I saw the benefit in words.

Anybody gets this email? I wonder is it a Special Offer or a permanent benefit?

Special Offer: Travel Center icon-secure ThankYou Member Account ending in: xxxx
Get 33% more value for your points on your next flight.

Premier Card
Book Now

Get 33% more value for your ThankYou® Points when you redeem for airfare at the ThankYou Travel Center.

For example: 20,000 points can be redeemed for $266 in airfare, which would typically require 26,600 points. Enjoy this benefit on any airline with no blackout dates.

Yes, I got the same email today. Could not find an expiration date to the offer, so I'm not sure if it is a bonus offer or not.

It's not new, but this is the first time Citi has acknowledged that it is a feature rather than a mistake.

No, this is an artifact of the arithmetic. A 25% discount is the same as 33% extra.

20,000 points can be redeemed for $266 in airfare, which would typically require 26,600 points
6,600 / 26,600 = 25% "discount"
6,600 / 20,000 = 33% "extra"

It's two different way of saying the same thing.

I just dont know if this a targeted offer or a benefit. As I said, the other Premier card in the household does not receive the email.

Right. Start with the total price, you are getting a 25% discount, i.e. pay 1/4 less when value your TYP at the standard 1c per point worth.

Start with the standard 1c per point worth, when redeeming for flights, the TYP then worth 33% extra, i.e. it becomes 1.33 c per point.

Yes. Fractions can be hard, apparently.
