CITI Price Rewind

Received an email regarding my ATT Universal card about this new program starting soon (might be targeted) https://www.citipricerewind.com

My email details:
"Citi Price Rewind is coming soon!
It's the easy, new way to make sure you didn't pay
too much for your AT&T Universal card purchases.
Keep an eye out for your invitation to experience Citi Price Rewind. space
Have you ever bought shoes and then found them for less only a few weeks later? Or maybe you've spent hours and hours searching for the lowest price on that flat screen you wanted.
Citi Price Rewind can help. This new, complimentary service can refund you the difference if the price of an item you bought with your
AT&T Universal card drops. And as a valued AT&T Universal cardmember, you can be the first to find out how it works.
That's because you've been selected to be among the first to experience this unique service.
So be on the lookout for an email with the exciting details."

I received the email too. I think Amex and Visa Signature have similar services. I'm curious to see how Citi's is implemented.

I got the email as well.

Yes, and even before it was discontinued it was gutted by excluding internet purchases and advertisements. Citi Chairman card (for example) still offers this type of benefit, but with the same exclusion. I cannot think of a way that an insurer could offer the benefit profitably without an internet exclusion.

However, this site interprets the benefit to apply only if the same merchant lowers the price. If correct, this might not be too costly because Citi should be able to reclaim the difference from many national merchants:

Here's what I remember from my reading:

1. Two methods to submit claims. A) You can "register" your purchase and their engine will search for lower prices -or- B) you can find a lower price on your own. (The automated search is clearly the innovation intended to lull you into using your Citi card rather than doing your own price comparisons.)

2. Internet purchases and ads are not excluded, but the ad must show the exact same model number and the seller must be a business (with a Tax ID number?) located in the USA. Ads can be published online, in newspapers or magazines, but "flyers" are excluded. Ads must have been published within 30 days after purchase. Typical long list of excluded categories including all services, real property, cars etc.

3. If you find a lower price you must submit: merchant receipt, credit card statement and advertisement with lower price within 90 days.

4. Minimum price difference $25. Maximum claim $250. Annual cap $1,000 per person (even if you have multiple cards enrolled in program.)

Thanks Mia. Those are nice benefits. However, I do not know if they will force me to use my ATT Universal card more the I have in the past several years (no more then $100 spend in the past 12 month)

Not yet convinced, but depending on which cards become eligible, here is a scenario where it might be useful.

You are shopping for an item online. You can buy from retailer A and earn miles through an airline program shopping portal which allows you to use any credit card -or- you can buy from retailer B who does not participate in any portals but offers a price that is $25 to $250 lower than retailer B. You place the order with retailer A and claim back the difference referencing the price offered by retailer B.

The same logic might apply if retailer A had superior shipping, return or warranty policies.

My husband just got the email inviting him to this program. It seems like it could be beneficial. It says you register the product you bought on the card through their site and they will track the price from a lot of retailers for thirty days. Or you can track it yourself. Has anyone had any experience that they'd like to share -- good, bad or ugly? And I wonder, if you buy something and then return it, would the program not work since Citi could see the return on your credit card (unless you returned it for a merchandise credit)?

I'm a Citi AAdvantage Visa & AmEx card holder, and just received an e-mail invitation to try Price Rewind today. It looks promising. See the Description of Coverage and FAQ pages for more info.

I just wanted to bump up this thread again as it looks like things have changed a lot with Citi Price Rewind.

I can only speak for my experience with Prestige card. Someone above mentioned a $25 minimum but I believe that minimum is gone now. The new limit is $1200 a year (max $300 per item).

Seems like an amazing program that not many are aware of. Not sure if other credit cards (Citi or other) have a service like this.

Here is my experience:

http://singleflyer.com/2015/05/07/ci...ewind-benefit/

Still waiting for the 60 days to close on my first purchase (I am new to the card), but it was easy to submit a claim and looks like I already have $10.99 in refund coming back to me for one item.

This was very useful 2 Christmases ago, 2013 I bought some Uggs for my mom on my dad's behalf (so they weren't on their shared credit card statement). I submitted the receipts for those and for my North Face jacket since I was keeping the receipts anyway in case a return was needed. Sure enough price on both went down and I got about $100 back total. Pretty easy. I've heard it's a way to beat doorbuster Black Friday sales.

Find the flyer, buy before the Black Friday rush, submit receipt, and when the sale is in effect after Black Friday, collect the refund.

Or so I've heard but never tried. But Price Rewind did work well the 1 time I used it.
