current triple points promotion

I have a 10 night stay at the same hotel coming up soon, since the new promotion that runs from sept 1 to nov 30 say

"to earn triple Choice Privileges points beginning with members' second qualifying stay"

does that mean I should check into a location for the first night, check out, then check back in for rest of the 9 nights, or is CP like HH which we have to goto a different location for the 2nd night so it will count as 2 stays? so I can get triple points on the remaining nights?

Also if theres no bonus or promotion involved, how many nights min that will you guys trade points for say the 250miles? I mean if we are only stay one night for $60/night, 250miles have to be worth more then the 600 points no?

Must change hotels after the first night, just like Hilton.

so after the 1st stay every stay after that would be triple miles? or is it every 2nd stay?

The triple points beginning with second qualifying stay is only for EconoLodge/Rodeway/MainStay/Suburban. Assuming your 10 nights are in EconoLodge/Rodeway/MainStay/Suburban and the room is $60/night, you would be getting 300 points/night, not 600, because you get only 5 points per dollar at EconoLodge/Rodeway/MainStay/Suburban.

Book at choicehotels.com or 800.4CHOICE and earn triple Choice Privileges® points starting with your second stay
Or book using another method and earn double points starting with your second stay

Unless you are staying in the EconoLodge/Rodeway/MainStay/Suburban (described in the post above), I might be thinking about the "every three stays = 14K points" promotion for the remaining chains and finding a way to switch among hotels to get the promotion bonus points, status, and the status bonus points.

Nine different stays = 42K points, which would be multiple nights at most hotels (even Europe).

i don't think "every 3 stay promotion" is on for Canadians, cause I don't see it on the website, only the 3x....

for the 3x prmotion it says

to earn triple Choice Privileges points beginning with member's second qualifying stay with arrival between September 1 and November 30, 2008 at Comfort™, Comfort Suites®, Quality®, Sleep Inn®, Clarion®, Cambria Suites™, MainStay Suites®, Suburban Extended Stay™, Econo Lodge® or
Rodeway Inn® hotels in Canada, the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean.

So i'm assuming all the hotels qualify for the 3x promotion

In case anybody's wondering about the terms of the offer for those who maintain a Canadian address, just change .com to .ca:
Valid Choice Privileges number must be provided upon check-in for stay to be eligible. Book at choicehotels.ca or 800.4CHOICE, at qualifying rates, to earn triple Choice Privileges points beginning with member's second qualifying stay with arrival between September 1 and November 30, 2008 at Comfort™, Comfort Suites®, Quality®, Sleep Inn®, Clarion®, Cambria Suites™, MainStay Suites®, Suburban Extended Stay™, Econo Lodge® or
Rodeway Inn® hotels in Canada, the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean. Qualifying stays booked outside of choicehotels.ca or 800.4CHOICE will earn double points beginning with member's second qualifying stay. A stay is defined as any number of consecutive nights at one hotel regardless of check-ins or check-outs. Must maintain a Canadian address to be eligible for this promotion.

When I change from .com to .ca I see the 3x points promotion but not the $50 gas one which is 3 stay for 14000 points. From the look of it, it's based on the US elections.

Given the options for Canadians, I would stay at one hotel for a single night, then change to the "intended" hotel for the last nine (get as many nights under triple points as possible). I've changed hotels for promotions far less generous than triple points for nine nights . . . Heck, I've had some vacations where I have changed rental cars AND hotels everyday . . .

...and this is supposed to impress us? :D

'Hotel-hopping' is a way of life over here, or at least until they get away from stay-based promos.

Gotta admit, though, I never 'rental-car hopped'. ^

Not at all; just saying that switching hotels once to get triple points on the remaining nine nights is a very small price to pay (and I wouldn't need something as generous as triple points to do so).

BTW - the most recent simultaneous hotel / rental car combo-hop was in LAS during the Avis / Budget promotion for 10,049 DL miles for one-day rentals in July.

Agreed.

But if it were triple miles, it would be a different matter, 'cuz they usually do XXX miles per stay.

The last time they did that, I hotel-hopped my little buns off, and was able to stack it with a NW promo, and the net result was 11,000 miles/week. For sleeping.

I'll be thinking of that in a couple of weeks, when my wife, my daughter, and myself are winging our way across the Atlantic in row 79 on the upper deck of one of NW's 747's. :)
