Crosssing a Tier on a long-term stay

Just started a 24-night stay at a Quality Inn.

As of today I only need 8 more days to cross the threshold for Diamond status.

Do I need to ask the hotel to split my res up so I get credit for the DM award points for the 16 nights I will technically be DM?

Stays do not post until you check out so no status changes in the middle. Even if you check out and back in, there will be a delay before the new status benefits kick in (no retroactive credit). If it's only a few days, I'd say it's not worth the hassle, but you are the only one that can decide that.
