I don’t recommend any of these small hotel chain credit card. The rewards are not much better than what regular credit cards offer.
Costco credit card by Citi: 3% cash back on travel (only downside is you will receive your reward at the end of your Costco membership year)
chase business ink prefer: 3% cash back on travel, $95 annual fee, you can redeem point for stay in Hyatt
citi double cash: 2% cash back.
I used to to have the Hilton Citi card which gave me gold status (free breakfast). They never short me point.

That's typically true, but I stay at Choice properties a lot, and am usually able to squeeze out a value of $.01 a point on rewards bookings. So, assuming I actually get 5 points per dollar on the Choice purchases, I come out ahead. But, if I'm going to have to fight tooth and nail with Barclay and Choice every month to get the points I'm owed, it's not worth it just to get a couple extra points. I'll just go back to using my Chase Sapphire Reserve (3x points on travel) to make my Choice Hotels purchases.

No bonus points for cash and points?
I recently opened a Choice Privileges Visa account and used the card for several cash and points stays. I assumed they would earn 5 points per dollar. Here's the reply from Barclays when I asked why I only received 2 points:
"We regret to inform you that your 'CHOICE *PRIVILEGES' transactions made last October 12, 2018 are not an eligible for 5 points as their merchant code is coded as 'BUSINESS SERVICES NOT ELSEWHERE CLASSIFIED'.
Please note that the merchants are the one that choose their merchant codes. Barclaycard is not responsible for incorrect merchant codes. We highly suggest that you first inquire your merchant regarding their merchant code to assure that you will be eligible for the 2 points benefits. We truly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."
There's nothing in the terms and conditions for the card about merchant code and the terms state: "Earn 5 points for every $1.00 of Net Purchases made on the Account for the purchase of Choice Privileges points and Choice Hotels gift cards."
Has anyone else had luck getting 5 points for the cash portion of a cash and points reservation?

Why would anyone waste one of their '5 cards in the last 24 months' that Chase imposes on opening a new card on this worthless card that obviously regularly cheats their users.

Just to update, I contacted Barclays about 7 months or so ago to dispute the inaccurate point credits and they said they'd look into it. I had forgotten all about it until I got a letter in the mail from them the other day saying that they had indeed made a mistake and were crediting the missing points to my account. It took forever, but at least they made it right. I've noticed that points for all of my recent stays and point purchases have been posting correctly, so maybe they got the kinks in their system worked out.

All part points, or just all current points? I've been noticing that the last two statements of mine seemed to have correct current points, but no "make-up" for past missing points.

I swear Ive quadruple checked everything, and every point is accounted for. I hope it stays that way.
