Choice points now issued by Choice Privileges Loyalty Services, LLC

This morning's email contained a cryptic announcement:
JUST AN FYI...
Choice Privileges points are now issued by Choice Privileges Loyalty Services, LLC. While we want you to be aware, don't worry because this does not impact how you earn, redeem, or manage your Choice Privileges account.
Could this restructuring be related to the suspension/demise of Points plus Cash? And what's the benefit to Choice of adding a separate organization to run to points program? The Aeroplan sale should frighten any company thinking of buying any points program. If you can't sell the points program, why separate it?

Choice Privileges points can only be earned in some countries, while they can redeemed in those as well as other countries (where they can't be earned), because of multiple "Choice" companies around the world. Perhaps it has something to do with this?

So this is quite different than Aeroplan, where there was one miles program and one airline and a simple 1-1 relationship between them. There weren't multiple versions of "Air Canada" around the world, the way there are multiple versions of "Choice" around the world.

I am pretty certain that it was done for cost management purposes, inclusive of tax cost management.

Welcome to the new Choice Privileges.

Yeah, I just noticed this at the bottom of my Jul 1, 2017 - Sep 30, 2017 "FULL-STAY HISTORY" online statement (which is under the "MY ACTIVITY" option):

"On September 1, 2017, all outstanding points were reissued by Choice Privileges Loyalty Services, LLC immediately following the cancellation of points by Choice Hotels International, Inc."

We are so glad you think Points Plus Cash is a great feature of the Choice Privileges loyalty program, and are working to get it back up. The switch to the Choice Privileges Loyalty Services, LLC is simply an administrative change. This change will not negatively impact our members in anyway.

That is excellent news. Is there anything you can tell us about why the functionality was removed? Was there any policy or legal need to suspend it or was it purely a software implementation challenge?

The change will not negatively impact members in anyway? Customers can only hope.

The pending return of Points Plus Cash should be welcome news to some. Hopefully the value for customers won't be lower than it was 6-12 months ago.
