Last year it was 10,000. And this year 2500? Wow, Choice, that makes this a very easy pass especially considering my last stay at a Choice hotel (one I've stayed at multiple times before) was so dreadful I don't think I will ever stay there again.

I'm with you. Because of Covid, I don't trust Choice and have gone strictly to Hilton. But compared to other chains, this is a lame promotion in a tough time for hotels.

Same here, from Diamond to Member and I'm still not traveling history is full of cancelled reservations. Points are good until May 2022 so I don't know what I will do or what program I will choose when I start traveling again. Choice brands were the closest where I had to travel to and I I used them because of the basically the promotions.

Stunningly, a few bloggers made a point of saying that this promo was a nice change up from the typical "stay twice, get 8K" promo. Every so often, you need a reminder of which ones are the idiots.

Lwildernova, I can see how non-idiots can find 2x a "nice change-up" from the boost to 8K!
A person who has one single stay costing $400 earns 8000 points under 2x vs. 4000 under 8K without a 2nd stay (mattress run.) However, if their 2nd stay costs $70, it becomes 4700 + 5000 =9700.
A guest with two $250 stays earns 2x 5000 now vs. 5000 +5000 bonus under the boost promo, so 10K either way. If the combined total of both stays is OVER $500, then 2x is better!
The boost promo is much better only for those with an even number of cheap one- or two-nighters.

The stay 2 times is a per stay promo, not a per night promo. If someone's staying somewhere for 5 nights, an $80/night room gets you up to $400 total. If you're not wanting to hotel hop, a 2x bonus is quite a bit more useful if you don't have any stays (or at least any cheap stays) planned.

Of course, I'm happy for those who have travel patterns different from mine who find some value in this promo. I've registered for it since I'm not leaving points on the table, but I'm not redirecting longer stays to Choice because of this promotion.

I'm a bit surprised that Choice hasn't come out with any longer spring promotion - just the late March weekend stay promo. Wyndham has already gotten a fair amount of bookings from me, and I don't see a reason to change unless Choice comes out with a useful points promo.

I am shooting for the 8 stays. Since the 25,000 are bonus points, if you add them to the regular and elite bonus points from the stays, it will be close to 32 K pts, basically identical to the stay twice get 8K points promotions that have been so common.
