Hey, all it would take is for one visa processor to have a "special relationship" with a counsular officer. The rule of law in China seems to be rather fluid -- as we have all seen, visa rules can change on a moment's notice with little or no explanation.

True. There are serious restrictions on Chinese companies listing outside China and one potential way around it is for the Chinese national majority shareholder to renounce Chinese citizenship and pay a wedge of cash to "acquire" a passport from another country. Burkina Faso is a favourite at the moment

Is there any service out there who could assist a traveller in getting a multi-year, multiple entry? Given the cost/hassle of continually getting entry visas, it would be well worth their service charge.

The last time I was applying for a visa the same travel agent that had no problem getting her that 2 year visa felt there was no point in trying for me despite being married to her.

You (and anyone else) could have gotten a 2 year business (F) visa, the requirements for which are now back to an invitation letter from any Chinese company (i.e. write your own letter, send it to someone in China to print on letterhead, and ask them to fax/scan it back; a chop would be a bonus).

Question, now that the 60th anniversary celebrations are over. Can I, as a US-citizen with an HKID and work permit, now get a 1 year multiple entry F here in HK? My friend who is in an identical situation to me, did so, except that he's of Chinese origin (and was born in China - naturalized US citizen)... will also cross-post in the HK forum.

Otherwise, more than happy to wait to go back to the US and do so.

Thanks

As of now, the answer seems to be no based on anecdotal evidence from some colleagues in HKG. But even within HKG the answer may vary depending on which official looks at your application. As others have said above, there is no rhyme or reason to a lot of this.

Took the gamble and tried. It worked.

Got a 1 Year Multiple Entry "F" Visa.

Needed: Passport, Application Form, 1 Photo, Copy of HK ID, Letter from workplace, business card, and HK work visa (already in passport). I also chucked in a copy of my previous visa of the same kind (though issued in DC).

I'm a US citizen and have a number of China visas in my passport. A number of tourist and study ones. This is my third "F"
