Transferring at BJS: DOM to INT

Next week I shall need to transfer at BJS airport from a domestic flight on China Eastern to an international flight on ANA All Nippon Airways.

I am not sure which terminals will be involved, so I have permitted a transfer period of 3 hrs. and 15 min. between flights. Does that amount of time sound adequate?

Thanks very much in advance.

I suggest you switch to CA or FM in order to: 1) save yourself a 15 minute bus ride; and 2) possibly get your bags through checked.

Thank you!

Thanks, moondog, for the suggestion. I shall look into it. Thanks also for your response to my other posting.

China Eastern arrives into Terminal 2. ANA leaves from Terminal 3. You would be changing terminals. If you can do what Moondog suggests without penalty, I'd make the change as all Star Alliance (CA, FM, ANA) leave from Terminal 3. If you can't change airlines, next try at your first check in with China Eastern, is to get bags interlined all the way. Then you only have to worry about getting yourself and carry on to the (free) inter-terminal shuttle bus. Failing that, pick up your bags at Terminal 2 domestic claim, take everything over to Terminal 3 departure via the shuttle bus, and recheck in with ANA. With 3+ hours, you should have plenty of time to deal with even the recheck scenario, that's a decent time cushion even if the MU flight gets in an hour late.

He paid full F for the segment in question, which means he can do whatever he so pleases... as long as he gives ctrip a head's up. If were in his shoes, I'd turn it back into cash and hit BJ on the the night prior to the Japan flight (in the absence of a really, really good story, NH doesn't permit routing changes).

If he paid full F, of course he can do what he likes. Guess I missed that in his original message.

To answer the original question, there's no drama in changing terminals if necessary, everything is well-signposted in English, and the time allowed is plenty.

Sorry for the confusion; he has two threads in motion, this one and another pertaining to his airplane tickets.

Nighty-night ...

Men, I am the original poster. I thank you all kindly for your comments and observations. It is nearly midnight now; my flight out of North America departs in the morning. It is now time to call it a day (and a night). Chat with you all in several weeks time.

Hello, again!

Well, I've gone and now I've returned ... and lived to tell the tale.

My domestic flight on China Eastern from SHA up to BJS was uneventful; I was in first class to assure a good connection onward to Tokyo on ANA.

As mentioned, my luggage was only checked as far as BJS. This gave the security agents another chance to browse through my luggage and inspect its contents ... which they did.

In order to make the connection, I need to get to the other terminal. The shuttle bus was right outside the door near the sign. That took about 20 minutes, after a few stops.

I ended up with about 1 hour to spare, and spent time browsing the shops and having a snack.

Thanks, all, for your earlier comments and observations.
