Is PEK T2 remaining open?
Anyone have a map of the new PEK T3? Its not on their website yet. |
Sending this to the China Forum.

-tmk, there aren't any plans to close the old terminals in the forseeable future
-can't you find a map on google? (my internet is slow today so i didn't check) |
Flew out of T3 yesterday. Quite the upgrade over T2 (which unlike Moondog, I don't mind). Absolutely enormous, has its own exit/freeway branching off of the airport expressway. Checkin was efficient (probably because I was late and luckily my flight was delayed otherwise I would have missed my flight), immigration and customs very smooth, security arrangements were a bit oddly organized I thought...

For more on T3 see my photo "trip report" here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=806065 For a map, well at least the map I used to tell my taxi driver, 'take me to the new one', see here: http://www.jal.co.jp/en/other/info2008_0303.html Some details about checkin, for JL at least, here: http://www.jal.co.jp/en/inter/airpor...ek/pek_00.html -C |
Actually the passport thing I expected would be status quo and was for China. I meant the xray lines for hand baggage.

Pat downs
We flew back from T3 the first day ANA moved there (3/26). I was traveling with two boys - 9 and 10. I have to say that the look on their faces when the female security person patted them down (while wanding them) was priceless. this was AFTER they went through the walk-through with no alarm sounding. And when she got to me, it seemed almost like a mini-massage. She found the pack of gum in my pocket - with a single piece left in it.
I thought the terminal was beautiful - okay, a little less than beautiful. But the sky visible through the metal slats/beams was kind of cool. And man is T2 huge. And there was no problem checking our bags... |
Does anyone have any info on transferring from domestic flight to International with the new terminal (and vs. versa)? For example if I am flying in on Air China (T3?) then connecting to Continental (still T2?) is it easy to switch terminals, especially since there will be luggage involved? The old set-up was very convienient, just upstairs and down the hall... any info would be appreciated! Looks like China Eastern is still T2 maybe it is better to fly domestic leg with them?
Thanks |
In the Air China *G lounge now at PEK T3. Not too bad, little disorganized but that could be because they just opened. Obviously much better than your average lounge in China. Got in with my BD*G status, thus qualifies as *G lounge. Have pictures if interested.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showp...1&postcount=38 I think VIP lounge consists of both 1st and business lounges. VIP rooms must be some kind of special place. Maybe government or celebrities? Companion is Air China’s frequent flyer programme, and is the first such programme to be run in China. Platinum, Gold, Silver members are all considered to be VIP members. The fourth membership level is regular. Regular members can accumulate points to receive free flights and upgrades. VIP members receive additional benefits, including access to the VIP lounge, priority check in and extra luggage allowances. **source: www.airchina.co.uk and www.airchina.com, 18/10/07. |
