The Penninsula Beijing offered me a VIP airport package for ~$80/person. Not sure what it includes, though.

When traveling with our higher-up Chinese colleagues, I frequently achieve similar marks simply because they keep a line open for us (and only us) in the normal lobby. But, I've never gotten to use that special line that goes straight to the curb on the departures level (at most, a 50m shot). I'm interested in what it takes to use the special line. (It's possible that some of the stuff discussed here, including your colleague's HON status, facilitates such, but I remain doubtful.)

Beijing New Speedy Service

Maybe you really don't need VIP now.

August 29th

Dong Zhiyi, general manager of the airport, told a press conference he wanted to provide passengers with a level of service as good as any in Europe, as part of its preparations for next year's Olympics.

--From August 30, passengers traveling through Beijing Capital International Airport will spend no more than 3 minutes going through customs and less than 10 minutes waiting for a security check.
--Passengers on international flights will spend no more than 45 seconds in frontier inspection, and a maximum of 3 minutes at quarantine and customs, he said.
--Ninety-five percent of all international travelers will wait no more than 25 minutes before entering the processes of check-in and border checks.

and most importantly: products on sale at the airport will be priced the same as in Beijing's downtown area
For example, Beijing roast duck used to sell for 98 yuan (US$13) at the airport. Now it will be priced at 72 yuan, the same as downtown.

I'd be happy to test the waters -- but it will have to be at PVG as I'm not going to Beijing on my next trip. And so far, no one's come up with something for PVG.

Here's one that claims to do PVG as well, but it's totally unclear if they have any service for inbound international customers:

Anybody ever find out if any of these services actually work (or exist)?
