Kow-swa

Hi!

Any idea how I can book a (e)ticket between KOW to SWA (Guangzhou to Shantou) for 2 pax, and preferably only one way ?

How long a ride would it be if we decide to drive instead?

Cheers
Luis

found 98$ deal from CAN to SWA with china southern on the following website:

http://booking.farecompare.com/s/fli...completed=true

but when redirected to CS wensite they don't even show SWA as an existing destination...

http://ec.cs-air.com/B2C/modules/HQ/index.jsp

what does it mean??

hhmmm... Missus sorted this out and ended up with a 43 US$ fare all inclusive but it needs to be paid froma mainland account... well... any idea if the flight might get full if we try to buy a last minute ticket for a friday may 4th evening flight??

Lastly is it worth forking out the 100$ each to fly in J ?

Cheers
Luis

Well, J is actually $125 (assuming a 7.7 exchange rate) on that route, but I guess I'd consider it because CZ is no fun in Y. On the other hand, I wouldn't expect too many frills on that 220 mile flight.

As for buying tickets with a foreign credit card (unnecessary IMO BTW), at last check 9588.com seemed to offer the least painful experience (i.e. no fax backs TMK) of the lot.

Thanks Moondog

We have a friend from Shantou and she agrees with you there's no need to buy the tickets from overseas, usually she just shows up in CAN or SWA and buys a ticket on the spot.

I'm guessing you mentioned this bit because you are aware of the fact that you can fly from there back to BKK nonstop at 0915a every day of the week except for Tuesdays and Saturdays.... but, in case you didn't, I'm telling you.

I would definitely go Y on this route, even if the differential between Y and C is miniscule, because: 1) C isn't good; 2) SWA is a breeze; and 3) I assume CZ only does it for some strange political reasons and that it can't be that full.

If I'm wrong about #3, I'll pick up the bar tab the next time you're in Beijing.

Moondog

I actually had no idea about a SWA-BKK flight but not so much of a surprise considering that a significant proportion of succesful thai businessmen actually come from Shantou families.

Besides I do certainly hope we'll have a chance to argue over a bar tab one day in Beijing as a visit there is on the must do list!
