I can't remember exactly, but the last time I did T2 to T3 was something like having a UA flight pre-booked PEK-EWR, but needing to unexpectedly hop over to S.Korea beforehand.
Schedule and pricing made me take something like KE ICN-PEK to catch the PEK-EWR flight.

Ate some bad Sushi in Seoul the night before the flight back to PEK....that part I do remember! 🤢🤢🤢

Its a DL mileage ticket. Not really a pickle since I have echannel so Ill pass though easily with hand baggage only. Whether I choose I get on the flight to TPE or head upstairs and book a MU to SHA is another story though.

HKG-PEK-FCO

Hello,

I now booked Air China in Y on an HKG-PEK-FCO itinerary at the start of December. This ticket has a 90-minute connection in PEK at lunchtime.

Is it doable or should I expect a 24-hour stay in PEK until the next day?

My last transit experience pre-covid in PEK was smooth sailing...

Try some T1 <-> T4 transfer for the lolz in SIN, and PEK T2 <-> T3 might even look better

INT-INT, all within T3, 90min sounds perfectly fine (there is transfer security, but, at least pre-covid, they let pax in front on tight connections) unless the incoming flight is heavily delayed (>45min, at least)

I'd prefer such an INT-INT transfer in PEK over quite some airports (incl BKK, for example))

Quoting my post to see if anyone knows if I'll get into trouble by just skipping the TPE flight and getting off in PEK going through customs and into Beijing. I wonder if CI will raise an issue to the government if I don't show up for the flight on this supposed "transit". I have no issue being allowed to enter China and I'm already registered for the echannel, just unsure if it could cause the government to chase me down for not taking the transit flight out?

The only time I've heard of issues with hidden cities in China is if you tell them of your intentions before your first leg (e.g., by trying to short-check your bag). Nobody cares once your trip has started.

Hi everyone, I have a question regarding a trip I'm flying tomorrow. I'm flying ARN-MUC-PEK-HKG on LH/CX, with a 2h25min conncetion at PEK, all on the same ticket booked through Lufthansa's website. Check-in for the first two sectors went fine, however, Cathay won't let me get my boarding pass for the PEK-HKG sector online and tells me to collect it at the airport.

I'm a bit unsure as to what the implications for this. Is a boarding pass required to pass transit security at PEK and if not, would there be a way to attain it before the checkpoint so that I can stay airside at PEK? Or is there a risk I would need to go through immigration and apply for a 24h transit visa waiver to get it at the check-in desks at PEK (which I assume might be hard to manage with that short of a connection)? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I didn't manage to find an answer to this online.

Thanks in advance!

There should be a transfer desk before you get to transfer security. Have you tried checking in separately on CX's website?
Another note - make sure your bags are tagged to HKG. Otherwise you'll have to go outside security to pick them up and re-check. Should be doable as both use T3.

Updating my experience after its all done and dusted. When I landed in PEK I got off the plane and saw an airline staff holding a sign with my name and the flight number to TPE. I told him it was me and I didnt plan to take that flight as my plans had changed and I would prefer to stay in Beijing. He just kind of shrugged and said OK. After that I made it through the QR code check and echannel in about 1 minute and was on the airport express into town less than 15 mins after the door of the plane opened.

A great experience for me. But also shows that they have it set up well for international T2 to international T3 connections.

I suppose it was on the same ticket (mileage zone favorable routing?) or you had contacted Air China before hand?

I'm wondering if anyone knows what the minimum connection time at PEK is for International -> Domestic - the website seems to list 90 min and 120min.
https://www.airchina.com.cn/en/info_...0120%20minutes.

Will be flying ICN-PEK then connecting to a domestic flight with a 1h 45min connection (booked on one ticket). It seems like I will also need to collect my checked bags so not sure whether this connection time is long enough or if I should see if I can rebook for a longer connection.

Are both your flights at PEK T3? Then MCT is 90 minutes for I to D. It's 120 minutes if it's T3 I arrival and T2 D departure.

Doable, but not without stress if the plane from Korea is late, there's a few planes land at around the same time, and the luggage is not fast out on the conveyor.

Yes both flights are at Terminal 3. Tried calling Air China and they could not say whether the luggage will be transferred for me so I guess I will find out the day of travel.

The luggage won't be the most critical thing that could derail the connection. With 1:45hr you should be okay, I reckon for a I to D at T3. Just plan for a missed flight as plan B though.

Yep there's another flight departing 90 minutes after my current flight so will likely be rebooked on that if I misconnect. Thanks for your help!
