China for Dummies - please help
 
We would like to go to China and have no clue where to begin a travel plan. We've always travelled on our own and wonder if it can be done. If you have suggestions for small tour group company, cruise or have done China on your own, please tell me where to begin and what you might avoid. Can the highlights be done in two weeks? Thanks so much.

Start from HONG KONG if u like it then move on to Mainland China.

If you have a good sense of humor no problem to do on your own.
A good itinerary (and I recommend skipping Hong Kong, if only because it deserves a trip in its own right):
Beijing – Xian – Shanghai/Hanghzou – Gui lin (note, if you start in HK just reverse).

yeah, just buy an open jaw into pek and out of pvg and fill in the dots as you go.
