Staff Travel Question: Avoiding CNY Rush Back to China
 

I’m just not quite sure where this question best fits on Flyertalk — the China forum or the BA forum 😄. First off, I’m not overly worried about this, but if anyone has any thoughts or experience I’d really appreciate it.

I’ll be traveling home to the UK from Shanghai on a BA staff ticket (premium standby). I know I’m already benefiting from a heavily discounted rate and this is a once-a-year trip, so I’m realistic about the risks involved.

My main concern is avoiding getting bumped on the return journey due to the Spring Festival rush back to China. Does anyone have any insight into the best timing to head back to Shanghai to reduce the risk?

I need to be back in Beijing by the end of February, and I was thinking of returning around 22–23 February. Any thoughts on whether that timing sounds reasonable?

You should be fine because Feb 22 is in the middle of Spring Festival this year.
