Just wondering what others would do different with this itinerary :

Day 1 Land 2pm - Intercontinental Wonderland
Day 2 Conrad Shanghai
Day 3 Check in Disneyland (Deciding between Disney Resort or Toystory)
Day 4 Disneyland
Day 5 Depart 3pm

Intercontinental Wonderland and Disneyland are "must dos". Conrad Shanghai is in there as it'll be a shame not to see abit of the city while we're there.

A concern with this is the long car ride from Pudong Airport to Intercon Wonderland (1 hour?) and if the flight gets delayed, missing the light show. Will be traveling by car as it's a family trip with a mix of very young and old. Any suggestions for transport hire or is DiDi good enough ?

You have Intercon Wonderland as a "must-do." I've been there and won't be back again. It's gimmicky and overpriced. You may have your own reasons, but that's one change I would make.

It came about from my mom watching a video calling it "one of the architectural wonders of the world ...."

Rates are CNY2.4k and seem to be the baseline from August onwards (higher on weekends). Oh well, it's those once and never again things I guess.

Haha, fair enough. Enjoy.

It's interesting to read about its backstory. If I recall, the pit was a rock quarry built when Shanghai was occupied by the Japanese. The water at the bottom of the quarry did have this beautiful color, perhaps from the minerals.

A common travel note for Chinese people is an app called "小红书". If you search for "上海旅游" in it, you will get a lot of suggestions.

thanks , will look into it althought not a fan of apps as I prefer to print (very old school)

been trying to look at getting a mini-van / mini-bus for our group but no luck so far. Is there a reputable company that I can contact in Shanghai ? Don't mind if it's bundled with a 1 day tour either if need be.

I also try to keep apps to a minimum, but Didi (standalone app) would definitely address your car needs. Or you could book cars via alipay or WeChat. And, you'll probably want to have at least one reliable map app (Apple Maps might be good enough).
