I still think my Thailand plan would have worked, but I grabbed UA857 when the price dropped to (near) $2k a few weeks ago because I want to return semi-soon.

My friend (who is in our Wechat group) flew LAX-XMN without trouble on the flight or quarantine in Xiamen, but he received an additional 2 weeks of hotel quarantine in Hangzhou. Methinks he could have averted this if he had a residential lease in place.

Switching topics, I researched the approved Covid test sites in Norcal only:

I used Apostle in San Jose and it was better than I expected. I recommend it.

Xiamen Airport has just announced that as of today (20 September) all outbound domestic flights are cancelled until further notice.

Well, usually the COVID count "resets" (清零)14 days after there's been no cases. Meaning if you go there, your code remains green. Hopefully that happens by the time Globally Serviced gets out of quarantine. Otherwise could be troublesome for where-ever he goes next.

Yep flights are indefinitely suspended. As of now, the high speed train is still running so I have a ticket for an 8 hour train to shanghai. Hopefully that materializes or else I’m stuck in this quarantine 21 days and then stuck in Andaz Xiamen until things change.

They actually had a press release to suspend the trains too but that announcement itself got cancelled
