Same here from Mexico.

Is that -at last- a replacement for the visitors entry paper slip?

I suspect it's something cookie related. I also get a 403 error in Chrome, but trying again in an incognito Chrome browser window and it works.

This looks like just the Health Declaration, not the Custom Entrance Card.

You gotta open the main webpage instead of the health declaration directly: https://htdecl.chinaport.gov.cn/

Tmk, they don't have an electronic (webpage, app, or miniprogram) version of the red channel form at this point in time, but most people don't need to worry about that.

Interesting SH arrival on UA-857 tonight. (Sunday 9-18) Flew from Chicago to SFO on UA, could not check baggage or get boarding pass to SFO from ORD until QR code done, according to UA supervisor.
So got the QR over at the Ohare Hilton (good wifi there) and went back to check in at UA. The QR code expired before i went into SH, but that did not matter, as they only care about the QR code.
This day had about 1000+ foreigner's at 5:00 hub time, lots of diversity. About a 2 hour wait on this Sunday at SH passport control, totally understaffed!

Also on the new 2-sided entry card, they really read the details, and scan it into the computer with your passport /visa information.
I'm in SH for a week adjusting to jet lag before going to BJ for the Golden week holiday season, might go to Beidaihe after golden week to play some fall golf.

I was compelled to generate a new QR code the one time mine expired en route. Doing so was a (very) minor annoyance. Your point about airlines potentially caring about health codes is spot on though; I suppose it makes sense for people that haven't already done so to at least populate the basic fields before leaving home. Welcome to SH, btw!

China made it "easier" to apply for a visa, some notable changes:

1) Just need to provide your highest level of education (prior it was all of your education)
2) Just need to provide your current and prior employment (prior it was ALL employments with supervisor name and contact information)

And other minor changes. Enjoy.

This news went around the world. Someone from Europe mentioned this to me on the phone today.
Amazing, considering the minuscule impact it really has.

That’s basically no change then. I only bothered filling in my current employment and undergraduate university on the previous form and they didn’t complain. The only difficult bit was trying to find the number of the passport I had stolen over 20 years ago.

Well, it tops last week's exciting news (several line items removed from the customs app).

Chinese authorities of all stripes were definitely much more anal during and immediately after Covid than I've witnessed previously (dating back to the 90s). They seem to have calmed down quite a bit since June or so, but I still know a lot of people who get treated to personal interviews upon most entries even though they have eChannel.

Is this a real thing? Ive never once been talked to when using echannel with hundreds of entry/exits over the years, including at least 20 this year alone.

You're presumably not on one of their special lists (I'm not either), but if you were, the gates wouldn't open and you wouldn't be permitted to pass until a form was completed and added to your file. This seems like a "going through the motions" exercise to me (i.e. not the least bit nerve wracking, just someone doing their job according to the book in order to keep his/her job).
