12 hour layover in PVG!

Hi all!

My search skills failed me.

I’m TWOV eligible with an entire day to kill as I arrive at 0500. Do the hotels near the airport offer day rates? Are there any day trips available?

Thanks for any advice!

With that 5a arrival, I would definitely grab one of the airport hotels so you can crash for a few hours, and also grab a shower before you leave.

That's definitely enough time to take the MagLev into town and explore a little.

The problem with the MagLev is that it doesn't actually go into town.

Depends on how you define "into town". It is certainly in the city but not what one would call downtown.

I’m leaning toward doing this. Do you have a favorite inexpensive hotel near the airport?

These hotels won't wow you, but are very convenient/cheap.

Go to LJZ if you are cool with dropping $200. Go to JA if you prefer $100.

ETA: If I was in in SH, I would bring any of you to JA, but I am leaving on Sunday.

Which hotel is that? It’s probably out of my range but it does look nice!

Thats one of the twin dazhong home inn hotels on pvg airport property. Stayed there once..clean..decent place. Price should be about 60 bucks a night. I think they hired the architectural design firm that did work on LAX
theme restaurant.

Glad to see PVG airport hotel designers used a rendition of one of the most iconic architechtural structures in LA that happens to be at LAX. The theme at LAX restaurant Encounter and Chemosphere residence...defines LA. The most significant architecture in LA history.
