Bejing Trip Recommendations

I've got an upcoming mileage run of sorts but also will be in Bejing 2 nights, to recharge the batteries and see the key sites. Will really just have one full day to see everything. Want to see the Forbidden City, Great Wall and maybe Tianammen(sp?) square.

Looking to stay in a nice mid level (as far as luxury) hotel, think Sheraton, Hilton, etc..... I will probably prefer to do a Marriott(SPG) property to count as nights for status but if the right hotel offered something more beneficial as far as location I might do that instead.

Anyone have any good recommendations on pulling off see these sites in one day. Lucky, One mile at a time seemed to be able to make it work so why can't I. I have not read of any great tour guide services from him, though, maybe they don't exist there and maybe it's not feasible or cost effective being on my own.

I'll add one other request. I'd like to experience the duck in Beijing but can I really do that without eating a whole duck myself(I'm somewhat willing to try if necessary)? And other chinese cuisine of course, I'll have two nights. I generally head to a bar seating or counter when alone traveling.

what research have you done and what are your specific questions?

If you're there two nights, your best bet is to hire a driver/guide to take you straight to the portion of the Wall that's closest to the airport. I can't remember which one that is, but it's not hard to look it up. Then, from the wall, go back to your hotel check in, relax, and go to dinner. For duck, every time I've had it has been with a group, and I'm not sure there are smaller portions. It's usually done in a variety of ways, so it's a lot of food.
