I'm on LH, they're on AA - where can we meet?

Hi folks - I'm meeting some clients at Shanghai Pu Dong International Airport before we head into the city. I'm going to be arriving at 15:30 via Lufthansa out of Munich, my clients are scheduled to arrive at 16:30 on AA out of Los Angeles.

They will have a visa, I'm heading to Vienna 48 hours later, so I'm eligible for a 72 hour TWOV.

I've never been to China (or, obviously, Shanghai) before.

I'm assuming I'm going to need to do some paperwork / passport inspection / customs stuff... will my processing time run longer than theirs?

Is there a good place that I can meet them? A known landmark in the landside arrivals area, perhaps?

Many thanks for your help!

Since AA and LH both fly into Terminal 2, my preferred (aka: easiest) meeting place has always been the Burger King right outside arrivals. As soon as you exit customs, turn left and you can't miss it.

I don't really remember any other landmarks that are easy to communicate when arriving. The arrivals hall is generally just full of random kiosks, shops, and ATMs otherwise.

That definitely sounds easy! Perfect, thank you!

I'll second the Burger King. It's easy to find, has free wifi that is pretty good, and well, you can always eat (or drink) something small while waiting in a reasonable clean and quiet area.

As long as you arrive on the Terminal 2 side, it is (which is the case here)

Regarding using TWOV on arrival, in Shanghai it shouldn't really add much time for the immigration process, just follow the signs and/or ask about it if unclear, and you'll be all fine. (PEK, for example, uses a more complicated system)

Have a hotel reservation printout available, as well as a printout of your departing flight.
