Good nightlife spot in shanghai

Looking for recommendations on good nightlife spots in Shanghai. Preferably lounges and bars. Prefer xintandi area but if there is better I will travel. Ideal spot would be a place with good mix of expat/Chinese where English is common.

The bar scene in Shanghai changes frequently. In advance of any other advice you might get, Time Out is not a bad place to start: Time Out Shanghai Shanghai Events, Activities & Things To Do and even That's Shanghai: https://www.thatsmags.com/shanghai

There are some 'early evening' bars like Barbarossa which are great, with top-shelf happy hour daily from 5-8pm. Right on Peoples Square. But that's not really a night-club place.

If you want high-end, The Long Bar at the Waldoft Astoria on the bund - which comes with jazz and a whole heap of 1920's history.

There are literally dozens of places though, catering for every taste.

Thatsshanghai is a horrible mag because they took over the Beijinger.

ETA to add more details: That's Beijing was launched in the mid 90s as a small newspaper. They expanded to Shanghai about 8 years later. Subsequently, their JV partner essentially took over the brand, and That's Beijing became the Beijinger. I must admit that the current rendition of thats produces decent content these days, but they don't have writers like Kaiser Kuo on staff.
