Didi at PVG

Hi folks,

Has anyone had any experience with Didi at PVG lately? I'm getting some conflicting info from Reddit and done other sources as to where pickups occur. Some sources state door 6 at departures while others say they have been picked up at parking B2.

Thanks.

Pickups at departure are not possible these days, Didi or whatever. Because the new policy, which has been in place for over a year now, does not allow cars without any passengers into departure. This applies to both PVG and SHA.

?? Cars without passengers not allowed into departure???

The inner lanes closest to the doors now have some kind of entryway guard, but the outer lanes still allow any car to pass through.

Are we thinking about the same thing?

I am pretty sure hwklx is correct. I use PVG at least once a month, and my black car driver is complaining how complicated it is now to connect with passengers without going through the paid section of the parking garage. I don't listen to all of his details but he is clear things changed there this year.

T2 the inner lanes are for buses only. All other vehicles have to use the outer lanes. I believe T1 is the same.

But my point is even though inner lanes are off limits, normal cars still have access to the outer lanes, which means Didi driver can pick you up. But of course often they want to pick you up at B1 or B2 in the parking garage since that is where they are, either waiting for you (new customer), or waiting for a pre-reserved customer and hoping to pick up one more paying passenger.

My next flight out of PVG is 10 Jan 2018, I'll ask some questions, but I think any driver waiting outside the airport can still pull up in the outer lanes of the departure level.

I checked on my way out of Pudong on Jan 10.

The outer lanes were restricted to cars with more people than just the driver. T2 actually had a policeman watching and checking. T1 did not, but that does not preclude some type of camera --- although it would be very hard to prove there is not a second person in a car from a photo. Easier to prove the presence of a second person than disprove. That rarely stops Chinese police from issuing tickets, though.

Seems that the arrivals level is now open to private cars to pick people up -- therefore the restriction on picking up on the departure level. I was in a parking shuttle bus, whose driver told me this. Also, other Chinese passengers who parked at the same place as me were just as surprised as me at this development.
