Long layover in PEK
 

Looking to book a flight to DPS. Found a good deal with cashing miles that has a connecting flight in PEK. I arrive at 755pm and leave at 625am. Looked around and saw that there is a Visa Waiver for short stays in China. Good. Saw that there is a Hilton nearby. Good. Not really wanting to stay at the airport all night, but has anyone recently stayed either at the airport at the Hilton hotel. Traveling First and member of SkyTeam but according to their website, the club closes at 11pm and opens around the time I would board. I have no problem spending bucks to get a room and relax, just wondering if the hotel is as close and convenient as they are advertising and how much of a hassle it is to go through security with a connecting ticket.

Which airline do you take?
PEK Hilton is somewhat close to Terminal 3, but not Terminal 1 or 2.

I didn't like the PEK Hilton.
You need to walk around 500 m from terminal 3 to get there.
You need to walk another 10 min from reception to your room.
The ventilation system made quite some noise. Otherwise, it looked quite modern and clean.
With a 7.55pm arrival, you may be able to check-in by 9pm.
With a 6.25am departure, you need to leave by 4.30am at the latest (its 7 hours and 30 min max at the hotel). You need to check in your bags, pass thru security, take the train, pass exit immigration ... It all takes time.

Get the hotel, PEK is always a mess and spending 12 hours in the middle of the night would be hell regardless of any lounge you may have access to.

I like the PEAK Hilton a lot. It is huge - that's a fair criticism. But if you have gold+ status with Hilton you will score a nice suite upgrade and the lounge is decent. The shuttle runs about every 20 minutes.
