Chain hotels closer to PVG airport
Hello FTers,
I will have a short layover in Shanghai after arriving into PVG airport at 11pm; will take a flight out of PVG at 11am the next morning.
Wonder if there is good chain hotels closer to PVG so as to minimize the commute time?
Currently I have elite status with Marriott , SPG and Hilton, so I prefer to stay at any of these chains.
Thank you very much!

The Ramada is the only western chained hotel near PVG. While it is quite a bit nicer than the hotels at the airport, it is usually outrageously priced for what it is (a Ramada). If you were arriving a little earlier, I'd suggest checking out one of the Disney hotels or simply going into town, but the airport hotels probably make the most sense in your case.

I'd just stay at one of the two terminal hotels as you then are walking distance from the checkin desks and can also make use of other terminal dining etc. facilities without transportation issues.

Would suggest one of the two hotels at PVG between the 2 terminals.
Have stayed there before.
Also as mentioned above there are some really good restaurants
at PVG for Chinese food. IMO the Chinese food quality at PVG is
better than most Chinese restaurants in SGV. Ate at Hai DiLao, at
Santa Anita Mall, last week. Thought the menu was limited, price was
high, quality below average...but great service.
Disneyland Hotel
$250/night

Disneyland "Toy Story" hotel

Ramada

Dahjong Hotel between T-2 and T2 PVG

@OP: I didn't know of this hotel's existence until today, but perhaps it warrants your consideration. I'm not sure I would pay a premium (over the airport hotels) for it though.

Thank you so much for the great inputs!
@moonday: Thanks for the great spot! It looks pretty close; I go to read some of the reviews but unfortunately they are not the best for the Hotel (partly due to it being new I guess).
Alternatively, I am looking at the Shanghai Marriott Pudong East, which seems to be enjoying some good reviews. Do you know if it is a good area (I heard it is the expat area), and close to the PVG?
Otherwise, by paying 100rmb more, Shanghai Marriott City Center is available
Thanks a lot

As you might imagine, City Centre is quite a bit more desirable than either of those Pudong locations, but going all way there and back during your 12 hour layover doesn't make a great deal of sense to me. As such, I stand by the airport hotel recommendation.
