Transiting PVG T2 -> T1

Based on recent events, it seems that PVG has ramped up security such that additional security checks happen outside of the airport now.

I have a tight transfer from T2 (HU) to T1 (MU).

I think there's an "indoor like" walkway between T2 and T1, but I don't think it's secured like a sterile transit corridor.

Has anyone gone through this in the past few days, and know if one needs to go through the new "enhanced, external security" again?

To add to the complication, I can't get a boarding pass from my MU flight - I need to actually present my passport at the MU counter inside T1 to check in. Will I be able to get inside T1 at all?

You'll be able to get in. I don't know if there's a secured T2-T1 corridor since PVG is usually an endpoint for me, but since you have to get a new boarding pass anyway:

Basically, you'll have your bag swabbed outside the door. Once you're cleared, you're allowed into T1. Simple as that. It's everything else you have to worry about (common wisdom is never to book a "tight transfer" at PVG, or any major Chinese airport, really)

They've done the bag swab from time to time before and it never adds more than a minute to the wait time. You'll have to walk the walkway between T2 and T1 (about 5 minutes) and then do the swab before entering T1 then go check in.

I wouldn't be comfortable with a connection like this unless I had at least 4 hours built in, especially in the summer.

The indoor walkway is not airside and you have to re-clear security.

The vast majority of people get their boarding passes from check-in counters or kiosks near check-in counters. If they weren't allowed to enter the terminal, flights would go out 90% empty.
