Lightbulb Advice needed Bali to Shanghai

Hello.
I need advice and help getting from Bali to Shanghai on a budget. I will be wrapping up a vacation with my two kids (9 and 7) and then we head off to Suzhou for a teaching gig. My employers will collect us from Shanghai. I would really appreciate help getting there on a shoestring budget. Glitches, errors, breaking up flights I'm willing to try but to be honest new to travelling so feeling completely overwhelmed. TIA:-:

Check Air Asia for cheap flight. Also look at kayak.com especially for flight to Hong Kong. Then from HK to Shanghai look at Spring airlines that has very cheap flights to Shanghai. But pay attention to their luggage policy.

HK Express sometimes has even cheaper flights to Wuxi/Suzhou from Hong Kong.

AirAsia also offers through tickets to Shanghai from Denpasar.

Also, not sure when you are traveling but signup for emails from Air Asia as they sometimes have very good sales. These are usually only available for a very short time.

I'm seeing fares for less than $300 on google flights on most dates. Given the distance involved, this strikes me as completely reasonable.

My search for August 5th on skyscanner came up with $213 /person on Airasia routing through KUL. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

As others said - usually Air Asia is cheapest on such route, especially one-way.

Also, check out other international airports in the area, like Nanjing and Hangzhou.

In case you're finding a dirt-cheap fare to another airport within China (say, Beijing, Guangzhou) please remember that flights intra-China are only on discount sale 30/45 days in advance. Never ever buy earlier.

But in your case, probably Air Asia will be the cheapest option overall.
