Beijing Outdoor Pools

We are looking to do a staycation this weekend somewhere in town with an outdoor pool.

Xiadao I just haven't got the stomach for and bound to be packed as usual.

The only place we know has a pool is the old Sino Swiss at the airport, which is pretty jaded but just about bearable.

Used to enjoy Jiuhua a few years back but anecdotal evidence says it has deteriorated badly.

Chaoyang Park is great and well maintained but we prefer to head there weekday evenings. Weekends atrocious as you might imagine.

Have googled about but seems to be little in the way of info over the last few years.

Anyone know any places?

Might have to travel to Pudong.
Of course nothing ever happens in Pudong. :D

I'm nearly certain that I started a thread on this very topic 7 or 8 years ago.

Since I no longer spend much time in Beijing, my current info set probably isn't very helpful (e.g. 3 of my favorite pools have been paved over since 2008), but I still stand by my general advice:
-enjoy the large public park pools during the first half of the summer only
-target nicer pools in Changping during the second half of the summer
-the Goose and Duck's pool is really quite nice; however I wouldn't bother making the trek unless they are holding some sort of event

Thanks for finding that thread.

I'm sticking with my g&d rec, in spite of the fact that there is no summer jam or summer love this year. While I worry a bit (for the op) about the possible lack of edible food, I'm hard pressed to think of a better place for a staycation in Beijing, and the pool is fantastic.
