Is this doable

Is this itinerary possible? how would you tweak it.
Arriving PEK at 5am depart 9am the next day.
8am pick up at hotel (grand hyatt) transport to Great Wall 2 hours on Great Wall then back to hotel by noon.
1 hour at hotel then walking/exploring local area 1pm-6pm
Back to hotel at 6pm 1hour freshen up then onto dinner and more explore till 11 or 12.
Back to hotel sleep up early and off to airport.

I know if We stop and rest for too long jet lag will have us sleeping until the next day so We are trying to stay active until our head hits the pillow. We are hoping with lots of walking it will help keep us up and coherent helping us adjust to the time difference

If you get picked-up at the Grand Hyatt at 8h, you won't be back at noon. This is not efficient. If you get a driver to get you to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall then go from the airport as it is in the same part of town. Then you can be back at your hotel for check-in before noon.
You can have time to cover several places in the afternoon. From the hotel you can walk to Tian'Anmen and the Forbidden city.

Thanks for the tip. We will go directly from the airport to the wall as per your advice.
Any tips on a nice restuarant in the PM within walking distance of the hotel??

Thanks again

"Made in China" in your hotel was one of the best restaurants at least a few years ago. Make reservations.

It's fallen out of the limelight during recent years as more highly acclaimed duck restaurants have come onto the scene, but if I was the OP I would certainly go with it based on the convenience factor alone.

Agree, Made in China is where I had my best Beijing duck. when making the reservation, you need to tell them if you plan to have duck. Not the top restaurant but in your case it is convenient and still an excellent choice.
