Interesting elevator conversation

I just checked in for my HIX in Shanghai and I stepped into the elevator, then there was one American guy (Ag) in the elevator and suddenly an American Indian guy (AIg) came in.

Soon I heard an interesting conversation between them:

AIg: Where are you from?

Ag: I am from California.

AIg: Seems you like here a lot. I can judge it from your face.

Ag: Yes, I've been here for 14 years. I love China.

AIg: Really? This is also my 13th time here. What are you doing here?

Ag: I am an accountant...

Then it was my floor, I went out. It is interesting to hear the conversation as well as to see that I have been totally ignored by them...:D

My interesting elevator experience (in NYC):

I get in on the elevator.

Chinese man is inside the elevator already standing in the middle (trust me, I know he is Chinese).

He doesn't move, so no matter where I stand he is about 1 foot away from me.

He reeks like cigarette smoke.

He stares at me.

Then, he says to me in Chinese: "Do you speak Chinese" ("中文吗?“)

To which I reply in Chinese: ”Of course" (当然可以”)

Elevator reaches the first floor.

Man grunts, and walks away.

That doesn't smell so good...

I imagine that it would be Cantonese 10 years ago in that situation...

Interesting elevator conversation

I try to avoid all elevator conversations in China by following the local custom of pressing the door close button as soon as I enter the elevator, regardless of how many people are rushing to get inside before the doors close.

Too Funny! I find this same custom in Korea and Vietnam too.

If the door doesn't close fast enough, after quickly pushing the button, you
can always throw the people out.:D
